Obituary of George Rurak

RURAK - Mr. George Rurak, beloved husband of Annie of Yorkton passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 85 years of age. George Rurak was born on April 15, 1922 in the Calder district of Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm and received his education in the district. On February 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Annie Yakiwchuk. The couple farmed in the Churchbridge district until they retired from farming. George took great pride in his farm. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors when needed. In 1994 the couple moved into Yorkton, where they have since resided. George passed away on April 7, 2008 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre following a time of failing health. He was 85 years of age. George was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Annie (nee Eftoda) Rurak; by his brothers Steve (Lenora) Elie, and John (June) Rurak; and by sisters Nora (Alex) Rubletz, Francis (Steve) Korbet, Elsie (Roy) Curl, Mary (Steve) Zabalotny, and Victoria (Walter) Anderson. He is survived by his beloved wife Annie; a sister, Mary (Andrew) Shullman of Yorkton; a brother Mike (Mary Ann) Rurak of Yorkton; and a sister Rosie Wilson of Scarborough, ON. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Mr. Mervin Dubnyk of the Yorkton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. The interment took place in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Jeffrey Korbet, Ron Lidin, Tony Demchuk, Garry Delesoy, Norman Kaminsky and Metro Skwarchuk serving as the casketbearers.
