Obituary of Mary Moskal
MOSKAL - Mrs. Mary Moskal, resident of the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. She was 88 years of age. Mary Moskal was born on November 2, 1919 in the Hubbard district of Saskatchewan. She was the only child of George and Wasylena (nee Yaschuk) Chorney. Mary was raised on the family farm and attended St. Stanislaus School. On October 26, 1941 she was united in marriage to Steve Moskal in Ituna and they then began farming five miles north-east of Hubbard. In 1950, they built a home in Hubbard where they lived and raised their family. In 2000, Mary became a resident of the Ituna Pioneer Lodge. For many years, Mary was an active member of the Hubbard Community Ladies Club, a parishioner at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hubbard, and also Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. Mary Moskal loved curling and was a perennial member of the Hubbard Curling Club. In addition to her homemaking duties, Mary was the secretary treasurer of the Hubbard Rural Telephone Exchange and had also worked as the janitor at the Hubbard School. Mary was predeceased by her parents, George and Wasylena and by her step-brother John Wendz. She is survived by her husband Steve of Hubbard; sons: Danny of Edmonton, David (Pat) of Regina, Laverne (Penny) of Regina, and Bobby (Lori) of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a step-sister Annie Hnylycia, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. Prayer services were held on Sunday evening, March 24, 2008 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2008 from Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R,. as Celebrant. Cantors, Wayne Boczulak & Ladmer Moskal, assisted by members of the Parish Choir led in the singing of the responses. Crossbearer was Stephan Moskal. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish cemetery with Scott, Mandy, Wade, Troy and Trevor Moskal, and Damara Seudath serving as the casketbearers.
