Obituary of Corey Litzenberger

LITZENBERGER - Corey Tod Litzenberger was born on June 2, 1975 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He moved with his mother Bernice to Raymore in 1979 and was adopted by Ervin Litzenberger. He attended Kindergarten to Grade nine at Raymore Elementary and High School and grades ten through twelve were completed at the Wolseley High School. Throughout his school years, he was active in many sports, including hockey and football. After completing high school, Corey gained employment in Regina at a truck shop before moving to High River, Alberta. There he worked at the Cargill meat plant until he became ill with schizophrenia. Corey moved back to Saskatchewan and resided in Regina where he struggled with the loneliness of his illness. Corey tragically ended his life on March 5, 2008. He was predeceased by his grandparents Louie and Philipena Litzenberger and Oscar and Marie Vindevoghel. He leaves to mourn his passing his parents, Bernice and Ervin, and his siblings Marie, Sarah and David; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be sadly missed by all. Prayer services were held on Sunday evening, March 9, 2008 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Funeral Mass was held on Monday, March 10, 2008 from St. Gerard's Church with Rev. Father Basil Chomos officiating. The crossbearer was David Litzenberger, the readers were Sebastian Prost and Shana van den Heuvel, and Greg Dubois was the crossbearer at the cemetery. Hymns sung were 'Christ be Our Light', Psalm 33, 'On Eagles Wings', 'The Lord Is My Hope', 'Song of the Angels', and 'Lead Me Lord'. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Norman, Alfred, Jerome, Craig, Trevor and Marcel Vindevoghel serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
