Obituary of Evelyn Stewart
STEWART - Mrs. Evelyn Aurora Juanita Stewart (nee Schutz) of Churchbridge and formerly of Yorkton, beloved wife of the late Marvin Branny Stewart was called to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, with her family at her side at St. Anthony's Hospital, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. Evelyn was born on February 6, 1933, at home on the farm in the Rothbury District. She was baptized, confirmed (March 30, 1947), and married at Peace Lutheran Church, Rothbury. Evelyn attended school in Pennock, completing her Grade 8. She worked as a waitress at Spiedel's Cafe in Bredenbury where she met Branny (Marvin) Stewart. Evelyn and Branny were married October 19, 1955 and made their home in Yorkton. She worked at Logan's Drug Store, Croll's and finally at Park Allen Drugs until she retired in 1990 due to her health. In 1993 Evelyn and Branny moved to Churchbridge. Evelyn and Branny both enjoyed the outdoors - fishing, camping, golfing, gardening, and in their earlier years, riding their horses. Evelyn loved baking, canning and cooking. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting, doing word searches, listening to country music, keeping up on baseball and hockey, and reading her Bible. More than anything, Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and nothing made her happier than giving her doilies, baking, or canned goods as parting gifts to those who stopped by. The kids, too, were always spoiled with little gifts, candies or little bags of quarters. Although Evelyn did not have biological children of her own, her nieces and nephews adopted her as another mom and grandma. Each time Evelyn became a great-aunt or great-great-aunt again, her famous reply was, "I always was great!", and she was. Evelyn had a very strong faith and trusted completely in her Lord. Even though she had many health problems, she quietly accepted them without complaints, even in her last days. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Marvin, her parents, John and Anna Schutz, and sisters Ruth, Mabel (Harold), Inez (Donald) and her brother Clarence (Lois) Schutz. She leaves to mourn her passing her dear nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. A service of comfort for family and friends was held on Sunday evening, January 20, 2008 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton, SK. The funeral service was held on Monday afternoon, January 21, 2008 from Trinity Lutheran Church, Churchbridge, SK with Reverend Chang Lee of the United Church of Canada officiating. Myrna Jenson was the organist leading the congregation and choir in the Hymns: "Just As I Am", Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee" and "God Be With You". The Honourary Bearers were William and Caroline Schutz and members of Evelyn's United Church family. Following a memorial Luncheon the interment took place in the Garden of St. Matthew, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with: Mervin and Don Rosin, Kevin Matthews, Elwood Kotzer, Doug Bjarnason and Dennis Schutz serving as casket bearers. services directed by Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton Whatever our problems, troubles, and sorrows If we trust in the Lord, There'll be brighter tomorrows, For there's nothing too much for thte great God to do, And all that He asks or expects from you Is faith that's unshaken by tribulations and tears That keeps growing stronger along with the years, Content in the knowledge that God knows best And that trouble and sorrow are only a test. For without God's testing of our soul It would never reach it's ultimate goal. So keep believing, whatever betide you, Knowing that God wil be with you to guide you, And all that He promised wil be yours to receive If you trust Him completely and always believe Service Information
