Obituary of Marie Anne Krepakevich

KREPAKEVICH - Marie Anne Krepakevich, beloved mother and wife of Gene; was called to heaven suddenly on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, enclosed in her families loving arms. Marie was born on July 24, 1938 in the Canora Union Hospital; a daughter of Lena (nee Sokolowski) and John Zielinski. She was raised on the family farm northeast of Mikado, received her early schooling in Zukumpht School, and her senior years at Mikado. She enjoyed working side by side with her siblings and parents on the family farm. The strong link between "Family and Food for the Soul Served By Marie" took seed and flourished throughout her life until her last days with us. She was united in marriage with Gene Krepakevich on October 20, 1956. This union was blessed with five children: Bruce, Bradley, Carlene, Kellene and Barry. The couple began their married life in a teacherage at Jaroslaw and York Lake, where Gene taught school.. Later, in 1965, they moved into Yorkton, where they have since resided. Mom loved to surround herself with family and friends. She loved to cook, bake, entertain, play the organ, decorate cakes, arrange flowers/centerpieces, garden, do needlepoint, giggle and sing with her children and many nieces and nephews. Her love for children and all God's creatures drew them close to her. Her generous heart extended out to those in need of shelter in her home. Her doors were always open for the weak and tired. Nobody ever left hungry. Leftovers in hand and stomachs always full. Mom's "Poppyseed Cake" was a "Must" for every family gathering. Marie worked in house-keeping at the Yorkton Union Hospital from 1972 - 1982. She spent evenings, as her children slept, earning extra income by creating/making perogies, cabbage rolls and baked goods (squares, cakes and cookies). The Terrier hockey player's billets' gathered at Marie and Gene's because she always had food waiting after the game or practise. She will be celebrated in remembrance by her "Adored" grandchildren: Paige, Reid, Jeremy, Megan and Brittany. She always was in trouble for feeding the puppies extras (B. J. and Alaska). Waiting with wide open arms to welcome her into Heaven are her children: twins Bruce and Bradley and daughter Kellene (Kelly); parents John and Lena; sister Sylvia Hryhoriw, brother Stanley Zielinski; her mother-in-law Martha and father-in-law Fred Krepakevich; sister-in-law Stella; brother-in-law Carl; her special friend Mary Johnson; and numerous other relatives and friends. Marie leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life her loving husband Gene of Yorkton; her daughter Carlene (Glenn) Dutchak and grandchildren Paige and Reid of Canora; her son Barry Krepakevich (Fiance, Crystal Campbell) of Neudorf; daughter-in-law Kathleen and granddaughters Megan and Brittany of Calgary; grandson Jeremy Bell and father Rick Bell and family from Kelowna; son-in-law Patrick and family Josh (Lyz) Lydon of San Francisco; sister-in-law Sharon of Canora and her children Darcy (Tammy); Blake (Sandy): Lea-Anne (Kevin); Stacey-Lynn (Mark); Stanley Junior (Marla) and their families; niece Debbie (Rick) Gogal; nephew Daryl Hryhoriw; brothers-in-law: Danny (Doris) and their families; Sonny (Doreen); Jerry (Daphne) and families; as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends; and her beloved and faithful to the end Shih Tzu: B.J.
