Obituary of Bernice Schultz
SCHULTZ - On Monday, September 11, 2006 Mrs. Bernice Schultz (nee Thompson) passed away peacefully at the Lakeside Manor Care Home with family by her side. Bernice was born on the Thompson family farm in the Saltcoats Municipality on April 16, 1917. She took her schooling at the Perley School School District #395. She then took secretarial training and worked as secretary and bookkeeper for George Morris at Bangor, Saskatchewan. Later she became a nurses's aide working at the Saltcoats and Yorkton Hospitals. On November 25, 1950 she married Andrew Schultz of Nut Mountain. There, they farmed until 1979 and then moved to Churchbridge to be nearer to family. Bernice's children, family and friends were dear to her, but most precious to her was the Gospel Story. Bernice moved to the Lakeside Manor Care Home in January, 2006 and resided there until her passing. Bernice was predeceased by father, Ed (1940), mother Marion (1989), husband Andrew (1999), brothers Earl (1994) and Dougal (2000); brothers-in-law Walter, Emil, Ed. Oscar, Otto, Alex Schultz, Ed Radom, Dave Off, Rudolph Novak; sisters-in-law, Pauline, Mary, Myrtle Schultz, Pauline Novak, Clara Thompson. Bernice will be lovingly remembered by daughter Linda (John) Malcolm; grandchildren Dana (Lee) Petersen, Todd (Juanita) Malcolm, Shelley-Rae (Mathias) Mader, Shannon Malcolm; great grandchildren, Tyson, Tilynn and Rhett Petersen, Hunter and Danika Mader; brother Vern (Jean) Thompson; sister Eileen (Carl) Gerber; brother-in-law John (Irene) Schultz; sisters-in-law Irene, Mary Schultz, Bertha Off, Vonda Radom; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral service was held on Friday, September 15th. at Bredenbury Town Hall with Rick Larson, Agnes Smiley and Ruth Sinclair officiating. The organist, Paula Young led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "We Would See Jesus", "O Jesus, I Have Promised" and "Sweet, Sweet Release". All friends in attendance were considered as honorary bearers. The interment followed in the Saltcoats Town Cemetery with Lee & Dana Petersen, Todd & Juanita Malcolm, Shannon Malcolm and Rylan Farough serving as casket bearers. Memorials in Bernice's name were directed to Lakeside Manor Care Home, Saltcoats as gifts of remembrance. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
