Obituary of Irene Romanson

ROMANSON - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Irene Romanson of Kelliher, SK., beloved wife of Leonard, announce the end of her life journey after her courageous battle with cancer for the past year. Irene passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 31, 2007 at the Ituna Pioneer Lodge. She was 62 years of age. Irene Romanson (nee Stadnyk) was born on May 3, 1945 in Lestock, a daughter of the late Steven and Mary Stadnyk (nee Karakachuk) of Bankend, Saskatchewan. She grew up on a farm surrounded by a loving and large family and attended Emerald School in the Bankend District. Irene met Leonard Romanson while working at the local Kelliher Co-op. Irene married her life partner of forty years on July 1, 1967 at Bankend. They made their home on the family farm south of Leross. Irene was a devoted Housewife, Mother, Baba, Sister, Auntie and Friend. She was blessed with three children, Brenda of Regina, Twyla (Mark) of Zehner, and Tim (Angela) and grandson Barrett of Ituna. Family and friends were also a central part of Irene's life. Raising her family and farming were here true passions in life. She was a jack-of-all trades with helping on the farm, running a household, gardening, and especially cooking. She also had a competitive nature, loving to play softball, curling, cards and bingo. Irene's door was always open for conversation, laughs and good food. She could always be counted on for a helping hand by family, friends, and local community events. Irene is survived by her brothers and sisters: Mac (Judy) of Wynyard, Eva of Regina, Rose (Andy) of Wynyard, Sonia of Kenora, ON, Rudy (Cecilia) of Regina, John (Judy) of Regina, Val (sister-in-law) of Wynyard, Henry (Marianne) of Regina, Ray (Betty) of Saskatoon, Gloria of Winnipeg, MB, Iris (Brian) of Lipton, Bill of Calgary, Brian (Darlene) of Regina, along with numerous nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. Irene is predeceased by her parents Steven and Mary Stadnyk, brother Alex Stadnyk, brothers-in-law (Steve Moleski), (Paul Motkaluk), (Darryl Drayson) and sister-in-law (Lila Stadnyk), her in-laws John and Kathleen Romanson, brothers-in-law Russel Romanson and Peter Dasko. A Prayer service with Rosary preceeding was held on Monday evening, September 3, 2007 from St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, Kelliher, SK. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Tuesday morning , September 4, 2007 from St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church with Very Reverend Father Borys Kyba C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. The Sacristan and Eucharistic minister was Larry Tymiak. Ladmer Moskal, Wayne Boczulak and Heidi Spilchuk sang the responses to the Liturgy; Marianne Stadnyk was the Epistle reader with Cody Degelman serving as Cross Bearer. The interment followed in the Parish Cemetery with Greg, Dan Stadnyk, Tim, Larry Dasko, Jason Bzdel and David Moleski serving as Casket Bearers.
