Obituary of David Miller

On Saturday, July 14, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville, SK. David passed away at the age of 76 years after visiting his family at Crooked Lake. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Mr. David Miller was born on September 11, 1930 in the Rhein district of Saskatchewan a son of Fred and Matilda (nee Wagner) Miller. He was raised on the family farm at Saltcoats, Sask. and received his education there. After his education David worked on Henry Miller's farm. During this time he met Isabel Bernice Niefer and they were united in marriage on June 17, 1951. This union was blessed with five children first Larry then Harvey, Linda, Marilyn and Herby. David worked hard to support his family first by hauling coal then with the 7UP company and later he started his own company called "Dave's Delivery". This was followed by employment with Western Groceries driving delivery truck for 18 years and then as a handyman until he retired. After residing in Yorkton for 46 years of their lives David and Isabel moved to Regina to be closer to their family and access to medical care because of David's health. David loved his wife and family and enjoyed many happy times with them whether it was fishing, playing ball or pool. Many hours were spent playing cards especially Canasta; and as well David and Isabel would always play Kinsmen TV Bingo. David loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, his 1978 Ford Truck and animals, especially strays. David leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life his wife and best friend Isabel and their four legged companion Lucky. His children: Larry (Maria) of Regina Beach, SK., Harvey (Theresa) of Duval, SK.,, Herby (Emelyn) of Edmonton, AB who unfortunately could not be here with us, Linda of Medicine Hat, AB., Marilyn (Richard) of Regina, Sk, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; sisters: Leona Dumbka, Martha Warner Freda Abday Emma Neil, Leigha Suchmuland along with other relatives and friends. David was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Alex, Henry, Reynold and a grandchild Tracey Young. A service of comfort was held on Wednesday evening, July 18, 2007 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Hymn selection was "Softly And Tenderly". The funeral service was held on Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2007 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, Yorkton SK., with Mrs. Margaret Yost of St. Paul Lutheran Church Officiating. A personal prayer was given by Rev. Gordon Stevenson. Shyla Young and Jennifer Koroluk were the memorial book attendants; with the reflections of David's life conveyed by Tara Reimer and Tina Reed. The Hymn selections were: "In The Garden" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" . As well, the Hymn "Amazing Grace" was sung by soloist Tara Reimer.
