Obituary of Anne Sereda

SEREDA - Anne Sereda, resident of Morris House of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007. She was 83 years of age. Anne Sereda was born on April 18,1924 in the Goodeve district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Theodore and Mary (nee Krewda) Lutz. She grew up on the family farm in the Goodeve district where she received her schooling. As a young woman she worked on the family farm until her marriage to Peter Sereda in May of 1943. They started farming on rental land in the Westbrook area. In 1948 they settled on a farm near Jedburgh where they lived most of their lives. In 2003 the couple decided to move to Yorkton due to failing health. Anne most loved her gardening and cooking. She took pride in her gardens which produced the loveliest of vegetable and wonderful flowers. She also took pride in the wonderful fruit they received from the farm orchard. Anne loved to bake bread, and make perogies and cabbage rolls, which she always had on hand for her company. Painting easter eggs was a favourite pastime. Throughout her life and to the last day of her life Anne maintained a tremendous faith in God and prayed consistently. Anne and Peter lived at Fisher Court where they met several residents who were like family to each other. Peter passed away in 2005 and Anne continued to live there until here illness in 2007. She loved and dearly missed all her friends at Fisher Court who became a big part of her life. Anne became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home in June of this year. Anne was predeceased by her parents, her husband Peter; brother Steve; son Edward; and daughter Bernadette. Anne leaves to cherish her memory her sons: David (Wanda) of Yorkton, Patrick (Linda) of Lanigan; grandchildren: Stephen, Theresa and Michael of Fort McMurray AB, Dan and Angela of Calgary AB, Avery and Brooklyn of Lanigan; brothers: Matt (Evelyn) of Saskatoon, Alex (Helen) of Prince George BC, Nick of Hudson Bay SK; sisters: Mary of Goodeve and Rose of Winnipeg; numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. Prayer services were held on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Rev. Father Methodius Kushko C.Ss.R. officiating. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, June 21, 2007 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Frank Dzadiak C.Ss.R as Celebrant. Stephen Sereda was the epistle-reader, and Michael Sereda was the crossbearer. The interment followed in Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Cemetery in Jedburgh with Ken and Don Elash, Matthew and Dan Sereda, Charlie Hycza and Edward Zwirsky serving as the casketbearers.
