Obituary of Ellen Owen

OWEN - Ellen (Nell) Owen was born on August 9, 1912 in the Theodore district of Saskatchewan to George and Bessie (Curtis) Quinton. She was the last surviving member of the George Quinton family. On November 10, 1939 Nell married Edward (Ted) Owen. They had two children, Neil & David. Nell passed away peacefully on March 5, 2007 at the Wynyard Union Hospital. She was predeceased by their son Neil in 1983 and by her husband Ted in 2002. Nell and Ted farmed for many years in the Jedburgh district. They moved to Theodore in 1963 and then to Wynyard in 1981. Nell resided at the Westview Apartments in Wynyard at the time of her passing. She leaves to mourn her passing her son David (Maybelle), daughter-in-law Shirley (Ken) Boe; grandchildren: Larry (Jane) Owen, Colleen (Barry) Bergquist, Rick Owen and Jean (Tony) Moroz; great grandchildren Laura, Emily, Andrew and Maria Owen, Matthew Bergquist, Taylor and Evan Moroz; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from the Theodore Recreation Hall. Lyle Shultz, Tracy Staples and Agnes Smiley officiated. Hymns sung were Lord, Speak to Me and I Will Not Forget Thee. The interment took place at the Theodore Cemetery with Allan Mojelski, Curtis Hunstad, George and Clement Osborne, Kim Moore and Laurence Owen serving as the casketbearers. The graveside hymn was Sweet to Know the Gospel Story, and the graveside prayer was offered by Ruth Sinclair. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
