Obituary of Nick Bohach

BOHACH - Mr. Nick Bohach, beloved husband of Anne of Ituna, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 86 years of age. Nick Bohach was born on May 22, 1920 in the Lunnville district of Saskatchewan; a son of Eustenia (nee Dorosh) and William Bohach. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Lunnville School. As a young man Nick enlisted into the Royal Canadian Army, and served in Canada until his discharge in May of 1946. On October 6, 1946 he was united in marriage to Anne Boychuk at Ituna. The couple farmed in the Lunnville district for the next 33 years, before their retirement into Ituna in 1979, where the couple built a home. Not one to sit idle, Nick worked for a few years for Potash Services, a road construction company, and also for the RM of Ituna Bon- Accord. Following those years, Nick settled into his retirement years by enjoying the visits from family and friends, going for drives in the country, and playing cards and bingo. Throughout his life, Nick was a musician, he was an accomplished violin player, and had played for many, many social functions over the years. He was also very involved with helping the parish put on bingo's. Nick had enjoyed good health until this past fall, he was hospitalized briefly in Melville before being transferred to the Regina General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents; a son Larry in 1988; and by brothers Bernie, Ladimer and John; and by a sister Mary Gallant. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne; son John (Heather) of White City; daughter Laurie Sametz of Richmond BC; daughter-in-law Dianne Bohach of Ituna; grandchildren: Coralee Bohach, Chantel (Colin) Kinch, Nadine Bohach, and Jody (Beau) Riedel; a great granddaughter: Meghan Bundas. Also brothers: Peter (Olga) of Jasmin; Morris (Noreen) of Regina; and Mike (Wanda) of Hamilton, ON; sisters: Ollie Buchko; Nettie (Nestor) Smysniuk of Toronto; and Hope (Ray) Bidwell of Saskatoon; sisters-in-law Mary and Verna Bohach of Ituna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Wednesday evening, January 31, 2007 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, February 1, 2007 from Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as the celebrant. Larry Tymiak was the sacristan. The responses were led by Wayne Boczulak, Ladmer Moskal and Heidi Spilchuk. Coralee Bohach was the epistle-reader, Yvonne Bohach was the crossbearer. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Vern, Neil and Darcy Bohach, Dale Buchko, Allan Resener and Colin Kinch serving as the casketbearers. At the luncheon following the interment, niece Nicole Bidwell and granddaughters Coralee and Jody gave tributes on behalf of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
