Obituary of David Edward Walter Melnick

Mr. David Edward Walter Melnick beloved husband of Edna passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. David was born on January 31, 1923 on the family farm in the MacNutt district of Saskatchewan; a son of John and Martha (nee Geith) Melnick. He was raised on the family farm and in 1954 was married to Edna Theis. This union was blessed with five children. They farmed in the MacNutt area until they retired. Following failing health he entered the Yorkton and District Nursing Home two years ago where he has since resided . Dave was a very civic minded person. He was on the MacNutt Credit union board; church chairman; participated in building the MacNutt Centennial Arena; was an R.M. Councillor and the pest control officer. He was a multi - talented man and there wasn't much that he couldn't fix. He was a photographer in the community for over fifty years being involved in many family functions. Dave enjoyed: wood - working, reading, his beloved dogs and cats, country drives and playing the violin in a youth band. Dave was predeceased by his mother and father; sister Rose and her husband Fred; a brother Paul and brother - in - law Ken. He leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life his loving wife Edna. Their children: Joan of Edmonton, AB., Charles of Regina,SK., Marilyn of Misson, BC. Barbara (John) of Regina,SK., Jeffrey (Sherrylin) of Calgary, AB.; grandchildren: Samantha, William, Jazmin, Nigel, Gerry, Elizabeth, Matthew, Joshua; a sister Evangeline Goodfellow of Kamloops, BC; sister - in - law Jeanette Melnick of Port Alberni, BC., along with numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Monday afternoon, September 25, 2006 from Christ Lutheran Church MacNutt , Saskatchewan with Pastor Kyunghyun Kim officiating. The Hymns were: "Nearer My God To Thee", "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Just As I Am Without One Plea". The reflections of Dave's life were given by his family. The interment followed in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery with Dave's grandson William Reeve serving as Urn Bearer. cremation arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton Interment Details Christ Luthern Church Cemetery
