Obituary of Frank Alexander Schurko

SCHURKO, Frank passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the age of 79 years. He was born on August 20th, 1942 in Yorkton, SK., the youngest son (predeceased by Ernest and Mervin) to parents Alex and Katie Schurko. Frank grew up in the Jedburgh area on the family farm. Frank moved to Edmonton for a short period of time where he worked for IPSCO, then moved back to the farm where he resided until his passing. He loved his farm and homestead and was adamant that he needed to stay there until his passing, he didn’t want to leave. Frank loved his community and knew people wherever he went. He loved socializing and visiting whenever the opportunity arose. Frank was married to Anna Holub for over 30 years and they had four daughters; Darlene, Josie, Bernadette and Brenda, along with six grandchildren. Frank loved to spend time at the cottage in Moyie Lake, B.C with Josie (Reg) and grandchildren Kennedy and Dawson. He was also very proud of his eldest granddaughters, Jessica and Miranda. Frank also leaves to cherish his memory his loving partner Patricia Bazuik, her daughter Gwenda (Les) Gara and their children Kirsten (Braden) Kipling (Mekenna, Easton, Emberlee), Johnathan (Chelsie) Gara (son Kyler), and her son Joey Gara (Crystal, Ryan (Erica) and Kyle Marianchuk), as well as numerous friends. The Funeral Service was held on January 13, 2022 in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Doreen Day, Certified Celebrant, officiating. The tribute was offered by Josie Power and the musical selections were “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Hallelujah”. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Joey Gara serving as the Urnbearer. Memorial donations may be made to the Willowbrook Wildlife Federation as gifts of remembrance.
