GORCHYNSKI - Mrs. Dora Gorchynski, of Theodore. widow of Rudolph passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was eighty-seven years and nine months of age. Dora Gorchynski was born on October 25, 1918 in the Insinger district of Saskatchewan. A daughter to John and Pearl nee (Bodzonski) Vehnon. She was the last remaining of a family of eight siblings. She attended Lesenko School in the Theodore district. In her early years she was employed on a farm for the late Michael Gorchynski where she met the love of her life, Rudolph. They were married June 8th, 1937. They farmed together with the Gorchynski's for eight years until the couple purchased their own farm in the Jedburgh district. She worked along side her husband for thirty-five years, until they retired in 1981 and moved into Theodore where Dora remained. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and loved her flowers. She was a very kind hearted and gentle person. She loved when people came to visit and made sure that no one left without having something to eat. Dora will always be lovingly remembered by her family Dora was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph in 1991; her father, John Vehnon in 1928 and her mother, Pearl in 1940; sisters and brothers in laws, Mary (Fred) Mirka, Anne (George) Woroniuk, Lena (Bill) Maluck and Sophie (Pete) Boarduik; brothers, Bill, Fred, and Matt (Katie nee Sawiuk); one granddaughter, Sherelle Gorchinski in 1974. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two children, her son, Raymond (Elaine) Gorchinski; her daughter, Sylvia (Melvin) Krewda; two grandsons, Rick (Cindy) Gorchinski and Colin Krewda; one great grandson, Monte Gorchinski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Sunday, July 16th at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home with Rev. Father Methodius Kushko, C.Ss.R. officiating. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, July 17th at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Bryan Bayda, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. Cantors, Ed Pindus and Colette Karapita, assisted by choir members led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Monte Gorchinski. "All those that shared in Dora's life" were considered honourary bearers. The interment followed in Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Rick Gorchinski, Melvin Krewda, Ralph Karapita, Richard Karapita, Eugene Wloc k and Bob Hiduk serving as the casket bearers.
