Obituary of Rhonda Lynn O'Donnell

It is with heavy hearts the family of Rhonda (Cote) O’Donnell announce her sudden passing on January 8th, 2022 at her home in Yorkton during her sleep at 55 years of age. Rhonda was born Rhonda Lynn Cote on August 18, 1966 to Omar Cote and Margaret (Marg) Giggie. She was born in Bath, NB and raised in Bristol, NB where she attended and graduated in 1984 at Carleton North High School where she walked everyday. Rhonda briefly attended University of New Brunswick before she decided it was not for her. She volunteered in Carleton Ground Search and Rescue with her then-boyfriend, Randy for 10 years just to impress him when they were dating before choosing a career at the McCain Plant as a Packing Machine Operator in 1985 for 19 years. After 5 years of working there, she married Randy and moved to Upper Brighton, NB in 1991. They moved again to Florenceville in 1992 then finally bought a home in Gordonsville in the summer of 1992 and had a wonderful life there and built their family for 22 years. In 1996, her first son Colton was born, then her two twins Carly and Caleb in 2004. In 2014, her husband Randy moved her and her twins to Yorkton, Saskatchewan to begin a new life. It was extremely hard for Rhonda but she made many lifelong friends whom she adored. Even though she was far away from her family, you would find her calling and texting them every day. Rhonda was a devout religious woman, Her entire life she was brought up on old hymns and her Mom’s favorite weekly Sunday radio station. Every Sunday, she always went to Garth Piper’s church in Fielding with her parents and looked forward to it every time where Rhonda made lifelong friends with Pastor Howard Antworth and his wife Sharron. Then, they moved to the the Apostolic Tabernacle Church. Rhonda loved to sing for the congregation. You could always find her singing with her Grandmother, Mom, sister Beth and son Colton. Rhonda also never failed to bring her famous cheesecake to the church potlucks. She had many hobbies and quirks. Rhonda was obsessed with soap operas and singing contest shows. If you dared to interrupt her, you would be done for. She also still continued her love of singing and music. Rhonda would go driving with her kids and just sing and have fun. Yard sales and thrift shopping was another passion of hers. She loved a good deal. Her kids always called her a “crazy coupon lady”. Another hobby of hers was going to the movies with her friend Cheryl. It was something that always brought her great joy. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Rhonda, knew about how much of a bright light she was. Her joy and life filled up the entire room. She was endlessly funny and would make you laugh til you cried. Rhonda was also a very stubborn woman but that made her even more perseverent. You didn’t know the definition of strong until you knew Rhonda. She took every bad thing in her life and turned it into something great. She showed all of her kids who they should be and taught them how to be just as great as her. To be honest, kind and as gracious as she was. Rhonda was survived by her husband Randy O’Donnell, her children Colton (Charlotte) O’Donnell, Carly (Jackson) O’Donnell, Caleb (Ethan) O’Donnell, her father Omar (Margaret W.) Cote, her siblings Greg (Rose) Cote, Lisa Cote and Beth Cote, her nephews Tyler, Tanner and Treyton.
