Obituary of Nelson Bulych

Mr. Nelson Bulych, resident of Ituna, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at his home. He was 52 years of age. Nelson William Bulych was born on March 3, 1953 in Foam Lake Union Hospital, the second child of Frances and William Bulych. Nelson started his education at a farm school called "Hazel" in the Beckenham district. In 1960 his family moved to Ituna and he completed his education. He excelled in hockey and was a very good curler. His first place of employment after high school was in Squamish, BC at a saw mill. He then moved back to Saskatchewan and worked at the PFRA pasture in Swift Current. He next moved to Regina and worked as the head ice maker at the Regina Curling Club. He was fortunate to meet and curl with some accomplished curlers. At this point of his life he began his career in concrete finishing. Due to his skill and talent in this trade he became known as "Ace" in Regina. He, then, moved to Ituna and worked at various concrete projects, carpentry and farm labourer. Nelson was a perfectionist, was intelligent, had many talents and was philosophical. He studied the Bible and the books of St. Augustine in great depth and documented his research. His family will treasure these documentation's forever. His greatest love was music. At the age of four, his dad taught him some notes on a guitar and Nelson realized he had a natural talent for music and quickly learned to play. He played guitar, piano, accordian and violin. He loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. His favorite song was "Blue Spanish Eyes". He taught his brothers and sisters to play the guitar and they spent many joyful hours playing and singing together. Nelson also had an ability to sketch black and white pictures of animals and people and drew many sketches over the years. Nelson was witty, kind, loved children and had a gentle heart. He was predeceased by his father William in April of 1967. He leaves to mourn his passing his mother Frances of Ituna; sister, Shirley (Joe) Bach of Saskatoon; brother, Ernest of Calgary; sister, Kathy Donnelly (Craig Battaglia) of Whitehorse, Yukon; sister, Carol Bulych (Craig Donaldson) of New Westminster, BC; brother, Daniel (Leah Prentice) of Port Moody, BC, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, October 22, 2005 from St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Ituna. Rev. Father Pat Murphy was the celebrant. Organist, Paulette van der Helm led members of the parish choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns Here I Am Lord, PSalm 23, Amazing Grace, Jesus, Remember Me, May Flights of Angels, Sent Forth By God's Blessing and Ave Maria. The crossbearer was Kathy Donnelly. The interment followed in the Ituna RC Cemetery with Daniel Bulych, Eston Stemler, Joseph Bach, Orest Oshynko, Alex Uchacz serving as the casketbearers.
