Obituary of Henry William Reese

Reese - Henry William Reese, resident of Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon, formerly of Yorkton, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, March 5, 1998. When God measures a man, he puts the tape around his heart, not the head. Henry had a big heart and will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness, compassion, and wonderful humour. The greatest happiness in his life was the love of his family. Henry William Reese was born on August 10, 1904 in Theodore, Saskatchewan, then the Northwest Territories; one of ten children born to Frank & Elsa Marie Reese. As a young man Henry worked with his father in a farm machinery business, then went on to become a successful grain buyer for the Federal Grain Company. He was united in marriage to Eva Rose Bilokreli on March 26, 1927 at Theodore. They made their home in the district for a short time before moving to Mikado, where they lived for 15 years, then he accepted a transfer to Ebenezer, retiring in 1967. The couple then moved to Yorkton but returned to Ebenezer in 1979. He goes to join his beloved wife Eva Rose, who passed away on May 10, 1981 and his son Lorne Jack, who passed away March 21, 1993. Left to celebrate his life are his two sons, Harold and his wife Mary of Saskatoon; Floyd and his wife Kathleen of Ebenezer. His two daughters, Jerry Dilschneider of Yorkton and Charmaine and her husband Morley Nelson of Fort Qu'Appelle. His grandchildren whom he loves so dearly and was so proud of: Gerald(Barb) Dilschneider of Calgary; Beverly(Cory) Pride of Langley, BC; Cheryl (Roger) Robertson-Tulloch of Calgary; Wes(Donna) Reese of Saskatoon; Linda(Dale) Friesen of Saskatoon; Shane(Sharon) Reese of Ebenezer; Raymie Reese of Yorkton; Kitty (John) Fournier of Ottawa. His great grandchildren, Todd and Melissa Robertson; Christopher Dilschneider; Kimberly Dundas and Jennifer Pride; Conner & Kate Reese; Chelsea Fournier; Carson and Coulton Reese; Shelbie Friesen; and Meagan Reese. Also his brothers Alvin and Clifford and his sisters Mabel, Enga and Viola. Henry exemplified the old saying ' the only way to have a friend is to be one". He cherished a multitude of friends in his 93 years. God Bless you, our friend. May His Light shine upon You. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 7, 1998 from the chapel of Baileys Funeral Home in Yorkton. Rev. Don Milne of Westview United Church officiated. Taped solo selections were played, "Going Home", "The Lord's My Shepard", 'Just a Closer Walk with Thee', and 'A Perfect Day'. The eulogy was given by Gerald Dilschneider, grandson to Henry.
