Obituary of Diane Sandra Stadnyk

Diane Sandra Stadynk (nee Lemchuk), age 70, of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023, at Yorkton Regional Health Center surrounded by family.

Diane was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Steve Lemchuk and Mary Alice Lemchuk (nee Ritchie) on August 21, 1952.  She grew up on the family farm just east of Willowbrook, before moving to Yorkton in 1967.  She graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School in 1970 and met her husband Bernie shortly thereafter.   She had pursued many different careers through out her working years before retiring circa 2013.  After retiring she became heavily involved with St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church as a parishioner and held several volunteer roles in the parish. In her spare time, Diane would spend countless hours crocheting and sewing, providing many special keepsakes for family and friends.  Diane also had a passion for gardening, which was evident on their acreage west of Yorkton, which always had an abundance of beautiful flower beds and a large garden and as well as at her current residence in Yorkton which also boasted well maintained flower beds.

Diane is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bernie Stadnyk of Yorkton, her son Eugene Stadnyk (Frances), grandchildren Deana, Steven and Samuel of Yorkton. Her sisters, Myrna Pelletier (Pierre), Laurel Favel (Michel), and Gwen Carr (Brandan) and families.  She is preceded in death by her son Sheldon, and her parents, Steve and Mary.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, Yorkton, Saskatchewan or to the Allan Blair Cancer Center, Regina, Saskatchewan.  The family wishes to extend their undying gratitude to the staff of the Yorkton Regional Health Center and Yorkton and District Nursing Home for the outstanding care given and immense compassion displayed over the last several weeks.
