Diane Prieb

Obituary of Diane Prieb

Diane Patricia Prieb (Johnstone) of Melville, SK, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 21, 2023 at the age of 80 years with her family by her side at the Yorkton Regional Health Center.  Diane was born to Cecil and Mabel Johnstone (Abelson) on June 2, 1943 in Regina, Saskatchewan, the second born of two children, and grew up on the family farm in Yellowgrass, SK.

Diane worked as an office administrator, and then went back to school for hairdressing after the birth of her first two children, Scott and Michelle.

She married the love of her life, Victor Prieb, on April 8, 1972 and a year later they welcomed their son Bryon.  They were married for 40 beautiful years and most of those were spent farming in Lang.  She also worked at the Lang School as the Librarian, Special Education Assistant, and Secretary.  Diane worked with Victim Services in Regina and was the church secretary for Milestone Alliance Church.

Born to Bryon and Raelene, grandchildren Avery and Janaye brought so much joy to the family, and she enjoyed being a close part of their lives.  In 2001 they all moved to Melville to begin a new adventure.  Diane began work at Miller School as Librarian, Education Assistant, and Speech Assistant.  Avery and Janaye were so happy to have their grandma there!  She also worked at St. Henry’s Junior School as an Education Assistant.  Diane was a life long learner and even went back to get her High School Equivalency Diploma when she was 66!  Into retirement she enjoyed working part time at Rail City Industries.  Diane brought compassion and enthusiasm every place she worked throughout her life.

Diane enjoyed spending time with friends, her smile and laugh were contagious.  She was a woman of great faith.  She will be missed dearly, but having Jesus as her Saviour, she has a home in heaven with Him and we know it was a joyous reunion as many have been waiting for her there.  As a family, we stand in confidence in God’s promise of eternal life and look forward to her hugs when we see each other again.

Predeceased by her parents and husband Victor.  Left to honor and cherish Diane’s memory are her children Scott (Carol), Michelle, Bryon (Raelene) and their children Avery (Jessica) and Janaye (Allen); brother Ross, as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
