Marilyn was born December 31, 1948 in Winnipeg, MB to Lawrence and Alice Brown. She attended Oakbank Elementary School until grade 7 when the family moved to Winnipeg, MB where she continued her education at Earl Grey Junior High, Kelvin High School and Tec Voc High School. After school, she started working with Corps of Commissionaires where she met Ferben Brown who she later married in September of 1972.
After working a short time Marilyn with her daughter Wendy, settled down with Ferben and Marilyn became a housewife and then came the birth of her two sons Stephen and Lincoln. The family moved to Yorkton, SK on November 7, 1978. Marilyn babysat in her home for a living. After an accident at the Yorkton Exhibition in 1988 she volunteered at Anderson Lodge 5 mornings a week and then at the Yorkton Union Hospital in the gift shop alongside her husband Ferben. Her hobbies included music, knitting, crocheting, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed going out for daily lunches with Ferben to various small towns.
Marilyn enjoyed her last Christmas in her home with Ferben, Lincoln, Deanna, Marek and Emma in 2014. With her onset with Alzheimer's disease, she moved into the Yorkton and District Nursing Home in the spring of 2015 where she resided until her death. Marilyn looked forward to visits from Lincoln, Deanna, Marek, Emma and Ferben. When Ferben moved into the nursing home in 2018, he was able to wheel himself down to the other ward to visit with Marilyn. When Ferben was no longer able to visit Marilyn by himself the nursing staff was always there to help Ferben visit with Marilyn. She got along with all the nursing staff at the nursing home but she also had her favourites. She enjoyed seeing, visiting, and doing activities with the students from various schools. Marilyn had her good and bad days as anyone with Alzheimer's does. Marilyn will be missed and was loved very much.
The family would like to thank all the nursing staff at the nursing home for always treating Mom like she was one of their own family members. Service Details.
