Peter Lungul was born on the farm, near Buchanan, on April 5, 1931 to Nick and Lily Lungul. He passed away on August 25, 2023, at the age of 92, with his family by his side.

After completing his education, Peter began his career with the CNR as an Agent Operator. It was while he was working in Kashabowie, ON, that he met Pauline Busniuk from Fort William, ON. They were married on December 6, 1952. They moved to Flin Flon, MB, where he secured his first permanent job. They had three daughters: Barbara, Patricia, and Beverly.

Due to Peter’s work, they moved several times. They went on to live in Canora, SK, Crooked River, SK, and Invermay, SK. He would be involved in the various communities joining the Royal Purple, the Legion, Kinsmen, curling, and playing ball.

It was while they were living in Invermay, SK that he purchased the family homestead near Buchanan. Weekends were spent on the farm working in the gardens, cutting grass, and enjoying the outdoors.

Peter and Pauline moved to Yorkton, SK, in 1980, and this would be their final move. At the age of 55, Peter suffered a heart attack that would see him retire from the CNR.

He continued to spend time at the farm, belonged to the Yorkton Kinsmen Club, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was especially happy to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

It was in February of 2023 that Peter moved to The Crossing. He enjoyed the short time he was there. Due to health issues, he was then moved to long term care. He was a resident of The Yorkton Village in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home at the time of his passing. He was very happy being there, enjoying the activities, the sunshine and the flowers and the hummingbirds on the patio, and the wonderful care he received.

Peter was predeceased by his wife, Pauline in 2011. He is survived by his three daughters: Barbara Dawe (Sidney), Patricia Anderson (Bob), and Beverly Eckhart (Bryan); grandchildren: Darren (Vanessa), Robert (Sherisse), Kelly (Tyler), Cindy (Graham), Brent (Aimee), Bonnie; and his great-grandchildren: Wade, Nolen, Ember, Ryker, Kieran, Harper, Elliot, Henry, Taylor, and Jake.

There was one phrase that every family member could attribute to Peter, and now we say it to him: “Good gravy, where did the time go?”
