We had the pleasure of meeting Ed and Harriet when our mom (Donna) was a resident at Yorkton Crossing and shared a table with them. Ed’s friendly manner and gentle humour were appreciated by us all. Sincere condolences to Harriet and family on your loss.

The board and staff of the Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI) express our sincere and deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Edwin St. Pierre who passed away yesterday. He will truly be missed.
GDI has had the pleasure of working with Edwin for many years. He represented Métis veterans at numerous events and was a mainstay of the Institute’s Métis Veterans and Louis Riel Honour week each November between Remembrance Day and Louis Riel Day.
Edwin was a proud Michif and contributed to numerous Michif-language gatherings aimed at preserving, promoting, and revitalizing Michif. Edwin contributed in yet another way with his 2012 memoir, "Remembering my Métis past: reminisces of Edwin St. Pierre", which is out of print, but available to read for free on the Virtual Museum of Métis History and culture https://www.metismuseum.ca/resource.php/150518 .
Edwin was a fine role model, bridging the generations of those who experienced the 1885 Resistance with today’s youth, and all those in-between. Edwin’s humble beginnings never daunted his cheerful demeanor, sense of humour, and kindness to others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Edwin’s wife, our cherished Elder, Harriet St. Pierre, and with Edwin’s children and extended family.
