It is with much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful Mother and Baba. Shirley was born on April 19, 1946, to John and Rose Doroshenko. Shirley met the love of her life, Henry, and was united in marriage on July 4, 1970. Shirley was an amazing mom to Blair and Curtis and an awesome baba to Kaidyn, Kaiah, and Karstyn. Shirley loved her visits with the grandkids and tried to attend as many of their events as possible until her health began to fail and not allow her to anymore. She still enjoyed hearing about the games during visits and most definitely scolded the boys for taking too many penalties – and maybe poke a little fun at Kaiah for not scoring enough goals in soccer.

Shirley also had lots of special “Little Children” that she babysat and each and every one of them became part of the extended family. “Auntie Shirley,” as she was known, was always happy and excited to see one of her kids she babysat come and talk to her when she saw them in public.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Henry, parents John and Rose Doroshenko, brother Robert Doroshenko, father and mother-in-law John and Elsie Malysh, sister and brother-in-law Alice and Bert Feere, and brother-in-law Mike Malysh.

Shirley leaves behind her sons Blair (Sabrine) and Curtis; grandchildren Kaidyn, Kaiah, and Karstyn; brother and sister-in-law Eugene and Carol Doroshenko; sisters-in-law Heather Doroshenko and Darlene Malysh; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Shirley’s family would like to thank Dr. Kumar and all of the staff from Wing 5F of the General Hospital for taking wonderful care of Shirley during her stay at the hospital.

A visitation was held on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, October 16, 2023 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Michael Faryna officiating. The responses were given by Jason Kopan. The cross bearer was Karstyn Malysh. The interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Blair Malysh, Curtis Malysh, Kaidyn Malysh, Kaiah Malysh, Eugene Doroshenko and Garry Gawryliuk serving as casket bearers. Memorials may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Yorkton Terrier Junior Hockey Club Feed the Boys Program as gifts of remembrance.
