Obituary of Matthew Nixon
Matthew Kyle Nixon (Matt) passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023 at the Foothills Medical Center in Calgary, Alberta with his family by his side after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Matt was born on July 19, 1995 in Brandon, Manitoba and was a beloved son and brother to Vern, Tammy, and Alyssa. He lived in Moosomin until 2001 when his family moved to Melville. He attended St. Henry's Junior and Senior Schools and Melville Comprehensive High School from which he graduated in 2013. Throughout school he was active in speed swimming and was an altar server, football player, and lifeguard. After high school, he spent time working as well as going to university in both Saskatoon and Regina. In 2021, he achieved his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics and relocated to Calgary to work as a Data Analyst for Vintri Technologies. Matt loved living close to the mountains as it gave him plenty of opportunities for hiking and for riding his bike on the trails in Calgary.
Matt is survived by his mother Tammy, father Vern, and sister Alyssa; his Grandma and Grandpa Nixon, Grandma Culbertson, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins and countless friends. He was pre-deceased by his cousin Lesley Reavie and Grandpa Culbertson.
Matt leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He will forever be cherished by those who meant the most to him.
