Nettie Ireland was born May 21, 1930, on the family farm near Fenwood, SK. Nettie passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Melville, SK, at St. Peter’s Hospital, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband, Colin, parents Bill and Anne Sawchyn, brothers Billy (Violet), Russell and Edward, sister Gladys Augustine, grandson, Cory Ireland, son-in-law, Rod Harms, daughter-in-law Louise Ireland, brothers-in-law Jack Augustine and Paul Lazurko, and grand-son-in-law, Derek Meyers. Nettie leaves to cherish her memory her children, Brian Ireland, Beverly Ireland-Harms, Brent (Anne-Marie) Ireland and Tammy (Frank) Broda, grandchildren Renae (Ron) Grychowski, Laurie Ireland, Melissa (Steve) Kirwan, Lindsay (Craig) Schweitzer, Kyle (Amber) Broda, Sarah (Ethan) Ireland-Harms, Anders (Brooklyn) Ireland and Tanner Ireland-Harms and many great-grandchildren; sister Elsie Lazurko and sister-in-law Marge Sawchyn, as well as many nieces and nephews. Nettie attended school in Fenwood, SK, and later married Colin on July 23, 1950. They purchased a farm outside of Melville, SK, and there they raised four beautiful children.  Nettie worked hard on the farm for many years milking cows, butchering chickens, making cream and cottage cheese, and looking after her large garden.  After losing her husband Colin, she moved from the farm to Melville in 1996. There she gained several new friends and neighbors who she shared many laughs. Nettie loved spending time with family, hosting functions, cooking, and baking for others, gardening, playing cards and games, singing Christmas carols, and visiting with everyone she knew. Nettie took great pride in her home, her children, and her grandchildren, talking about them often.  She also took great pride in her appearance, getting her hair done on a regular basis right to the very end. She was devoted to her beloved husband Colin who was her one true love whom she missed every day and has now joined after being apart for 27 years. Nettie was a kind and generous person who had a beautiful soul and was loved by everyone she met. She will forever be cherished, and dearly missed by all. A special thank you to the Melville and Kamsack nursing homes for taking such great care of our mother.
