Obituary of Darlene Nellie May Neudorf

The family of Darlene Neudorf of Yorkton, beloved wife of Jerry Neudorf sadly announce her passing on Thursday, December 16. She was 79 years of age. A Private Family Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 7 at 2:00p.m. Memorials in memory of Darlene may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency for the Lodge Renewal Program (200-4545 Parliament Ave., Regina, SK S4W 0G3) or Home Care for Palliative Care (c/o 41 Betts Ave., Yorkton, SK S3N 1M1). Darlene was born in Yorkton to John & Lena Oystryk on May 25, 1942. She was the youngest of 3 children and lived on the family farm in the Hamton District. Once she was school age, she would live in Yorkton with her grandmother in the house on 3rd Ave., which her dad built and then return to the farm, her favorite place, for the summers. At thirteen years old, one winter evening she went skating where she met a boy named Jerry. Upon returning home she announced to her mother that “I have met the man I’m going to marry”, which she did on October 2, 1965. Shortly after the couple moved to Ituna where Jerry worked for the Credit Union and where Leslie was born in 1970. A move back to Yorkton, the same house on 3rd Ave. came in 1972 and the arrival of Shane completed the family in 1975. Darlene mostly enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends. Either BBQ’s at the farm, days at the cabin at Sunnyside Beach or trips to the sand dunes, as long as the family was together, that is all that mattered. What truly brought her joy though were her grandsons. That is what really made her eyes sparkle, “her guys”, Jordan and Joshua. Sleepovers at Nana’s were always in high demand with adventures to be found or just staying in and playing, there was always fun to be had. She always devoted her full attention to her guys when they were over. Darlene was strong but gentle, compassionate and loving. She had a way of always saying the right things and make your problems not seem as big as you think they were. Darlene passed away at home with her family by her side on Thursday, December 16, 2021. She will be greatly missed by her husband Gerald “Jerry”, daughter Leslie (Colin) Lys, son Shane Neudorf (Crystal Anhalt), grandsons Jordan and Joshua Lys, sister Violet Stefanuk and special nieces Joan, Kate & Sandy. Darlene was predeceased by her parents John and Lena Oystryk, brother Edward Oystryk, brother-in-law Peter Stefanuk. Service Details.
