Obituary of Tammy Lynn Broda
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Tammy Broda on Wednesday December 27, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital at the age of 62 years.
Tammy was born April 12, 1961 at St. Peter’s Hospital to Colin and Nettie Ireland.
Tammy lived on the family farm six miles south of Melville, Tammy was the youngest of four children, Brian, Beverly, and Brent.
Tammy received her education at Davidson School and Melville Comprehensive School. Tammy met the love of her life, Frank Broda, they first became good friends and then began dating in 1979. In 1980 Tammy graduated with Frank as her grad escort. On January 1,1981 they got engaged and were married on August 29,1981 surrounded by family and friends. Family and friends once again gather at the same church they were married to say goodbye to this kind and beautiful person.
After a two week honeymoon in the Rocky Mountains Tammy and Frank moved into there first house at 253 5th. Ave. East in Melville, where both their beautiful children were raised. Lindsay Danielle Broda was born on February 20,1983 and Kyle Xavier Broda was born on October 23,1985.
After graduating from high school Tammy took on various jobs, she started her career as a caregiver at Cameron House working with clients with disabilities. Tammy’s next job was at Melville Comprehensive School Developmental classroom for young children with special needs.Tammy’s next opportunity was with St. Henry’s School as a Teacher’s Assistant from Kindergarten class right up to the senior high school working with various teachers and students.
Tammy obtained a diploma from SIAST in 1999 as a Special Care Aide and began working at St.Paul Lutheran Home. Tammy absolutely loved her clients and fellow employees, she had the pleasure to work with. Working with the care home residents was her true calling, she could always bring a smile and laugh to the residents and brightened there days with her stories and jokes. In 2014 Tammy was diagnosed with a rare medical condition and was forced to retire in 2016 from the profession she so loved!
You can see a common theme from Tammy’s 36 year working career that she was put on this earth to be a caregiver, but more importantly she was a loving wife, loving mother to their children and a Super Nana to their four adventurous grandchildren. Once again Tammy used her super powers as a caregiver to their children and grandchildren, and did she ever embrace this special role given to her as Nana!
Kinsley, Jaden, Kovyn and Logan let it be known that Nana loved you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!
Another chapter in Tammy’s life began on October 26, 2016; this was the day Tammy and Frank purchased Papa Joe’s and Mother Theresa’s seasonal cottage at Crooked Lake. This was truly Tammy’s happy place. After extensive renovations in 2022 and 2023 Tammy and Frank were getting very comfortable with the cottage and would proudly boast they had spent five months at the cottage last year. Most importantly were memories the children and grandchildren were creating at this special place. One of Tammy’s favourite things to do at the lake was throw rocks up onto the shore to create a sandy beach for the kids to play. Nana spent many hours building sand castles and driving toy trucks through the sand with the grandchildren, and was often the target of their buckets of lake water.
