Obituary of Victoria Berezowski

Victoria Berezowski, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully in Calgary on December 19, 2023, at the age of 96. Born on a family farm in the Willowbrook district on June 28, 1927, she was the daughter of Joe and Rose (Kruda) Gamracy. Her early life on the farm shaped her into a woman of strength, resilience, and deep family values.

Victoria's heart found its match in Steve Berezowski, whom she married on August 8, 1948. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, lasting until Steve's passing in 2000. Together, Victoria and Steve lovingly raised five children – Richard, Linda, Beverly, Kathy and Russell - in Calder and Esterhazy, creating a family legacy of love and strength.

In 1986, the couple chose the peaceful community of Yorkton for their retirement, enjoying the serene pace of life there.  After Steve's passing, Victoria's resilient spirit led her to live briefly in Brampton, ON, before she returned to her roots in Yorkton. In 2020, she embraced a new chapter in Calgary, AB, where she continued to live with grace and dignity.

Victoria's life was enriched by the joy she found in visiting with friends and relatives. She had a knack for turning ordinary gatherings into memorable occasions often playing cards into the late hours. A craft enthusiast, her hands were rarely still, as she created beautiful crafts that were a testament to her skill and creativity. Victoria also held a deep pride in her Saskatchewan origins and Ukrainian heritage, often sharing stories and traditions that reflected her rich cultural background.  Her favourite pastime in her later years was watching sports on TV, especially the Toronto Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders!

Leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories, Victoria is survived by her children Richard, Beverly, Kathy, and Russell, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Her life, marked by warmth, generosity, and community, will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Victoria Berezowski's journey through life was one of purpose, love, and resilience, leaving an impact on the lives she touched.

Victoria’s interment, next to her beloved Steve, will take place in a private ceremony in the Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens on February 10th. The family requests those who knew Victoria light a candle or pray for her on that day.
