Larry & Debbie Wintonyk lit a candle

This is from Larry and Debbie Wintonyk
I will always remember Steve and I enjoyed many years of hunting together in the Stornoway area. He was an excellent shot. Some years Murray and Dwayne would join. One year Steve shot a big trophy buck that he got awards for.
Another year Debbie joined Steve and Larry. Steve had a nice one lined up but Debbie thought he was taking too long to shoot, to so she told him to shoot the dam thing already. The guys didn’t appreciate her coaching.
Steve and Verna liked to come over and play with our son Zachary. They would go into the living room to play with him and all we could hear was laughter from all 3 of them.
Thank you for those wonderful memories. Sorry we can‘t be with you.

The Late Wintonyks lit a candle

The late Jimmy and Frances Wintonyk were really good friends with Steve and Verna. They always visited back and forth on Sunday‘s, during harvest, and holidays. They were so close Steve‘s and Verna‘s kids called them Uncle Jimmy and Aunty Frances and never realized they weren‘t related till they were adults. Jimmy and Frances often talked about their holiday together to British Columbia and Steve did all the driving.

From Linda Kindrachuk
When I was about 3 years old, and Steve was likely 21 years old, he worked for us at our farm.
I immediately became attracted to him and always called him my boyfriend. I was upset when I found out he was getting married to Verna. BUT Steve chose me to be the flower girl even thought Verna did not want a one. I was so proud!!
I remember the bridesmaids helping me get dressed in Peter Kozie‘‘s house in Yorkton and giving me a little bouquet to carry.
After the wedding, I was thrilled to ride around in Peter Dobko‘s car with the bride and groom in the backseat and I was sitting in the front in between Peter Dobko, Steve‘s friend, and Marlene Kozie, Steve‘s sister blowing the horn all around Yorkton.
There are very few of us left now from the wedding party of 4 bridesmaids and best men.
When we were getting married, we had Sheldon, Steve and Verna‘s son, as our ring bearer.
We are very sorry we cannot be there with the family now.
We send our sincere sympathy and love.
Rest in Peace Steve. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

Our sincere condolences to Verna, Murray, Debbie, Glenda. Karen, Sheldon and families. I have 60 years of memories of Steve and the times our families spent together. I was honoured to be his flower girl for their wedding. May all of you have wonderful eternal memories. One of my favorite memories is taking Steve and seeing him so excited to visit the Legislature in Regina. Sorry we can’t be with you at this time but our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincere Sympathy. Linda & Peter Kindrachuk

February 9, 2024 at 9:55 am Karen, Bryan and myself were sitting in my living room and we were watching a YouTube site on cooking pasta and tomato recipes and I went to get my phone soi I could print off the recipe, all of a sudden we are listening to "Roll On" song by Alabama. Strange thing is not one of us changed the channel to the music station to play music.
So we sat there and listened to the song and stated this is one of the songs that we are playing at his funeral.
Our interpretation of this is that :Dad loved pasta and tomato dishes and he is also letting us know that he is okay and we should all just roll on.
