Fran Kweens

Obituary of Fran Kweens

KWEENS - With deep sadness, the family of Fran Gaylene Kweens, sadly announce her passing on Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was 49 years of age.

Fran was born on September 19, 1974 in Yorkton the youngest of 7 children born to John and Olga (nee Doskoch) Stupak. Fran grew up and attended school in Yorkton. Being part of a large family, everyone enjoyed visits and time at the cabin at Sunnyside. Fran was close to many of her nieces and nephews as they all shared time together. Fran graduated from Sacred Heart High School and then began working at various jobs in Yorkton. She later moved to Esterhazy and married Robert Kweens. They soon returned to Yorkton where they raised their two sons, Mackenzie and Noah. Fran was a stay at home mom while the boys grew up. As the children grew older she went back to work in retail.

Fran worked in a daycare and had completed studies in Early Childhood Education with SIAST. More recently starting in 2017 Fran had been working towards her masters in Social Work through the University of Regina, continuing to pursue it despite her autoimmune disorders developing in 2019. This past year she also was taking classes for a certificate for Indigenous Social Work.

Fran’s love and passion was towards animals. Beyond the many fur babies we've had through years, she also helped out with the animal rescues in town. She was a prime example of someone who truly was selfless, always putting others before herself and wanting to help and care for others. Even with her own health struggles recently, she always strived towards being the best mother she could be.

Fran was predeceased by her father, John Stupak. She leaves to mourn her loss and cherish her memory her mother, Olga; sons, Mackenzie and Noah; siblings, Alan, Dale, Bryan, Gary Candice and Eric; as well as many relatives, friends and neighbours.
