Obituary of Harvey Fleury
Harvey was born in Ste. Madeleine, Manitoba, a Métis settlement that the Manitoba government burned out in the 1930s. He was very proud of being Métis. After the disbandment of Ste. Madeleine Harvey moved to Gerald, Saskatchewan, with his parents and siblings. In January of 1981, he married Maxine Yaskow and they had four children and resided in Langenburg, Saskatchewan until 2002, at which time he moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
Harvey was an adamant cyclist but only taught himself to ride in his sixties. Once he had learnt, you would see him cycling all over Yorkton, which was impressive considering his age. He was also proud of the time he spent working for Canadian Pacific Railway, and even once he no longer worked there, he still loved to discuss trains. Harvey’s most significant achievement was his grandchildren; whenever the grandkids came around, the most enormous smile would cross Harvey’s face; he truly enjoyed and loved them.
Harvey Fleury is predeceased by his father, Napoléon Fleury, mother, Lena Fleury (nee: Boucher), sister, Nora Jean Fleury, brother, Joe Fleury, and sister, Rita Fleury.
