Obituary of Walter Otchenash
It is with great sadness that Marty Otchenash announces the peaceful passing of her beloved husband, Albert Otchenash on March 27, 2024.
Albert was born on June 12, 1933 in the Beckingham district. He attended Chiselhurst School for grades 1 – 8 and Yorkton Collegiate Institute for grades 9 – 12. After graduating high school, he chose Pharmacy for his profession. He received his degree from the University of Saskatchewan and applied for his first job with Baker’s Drug Store in Yorkton. This is where he met his future wife, Margaret (Marty).
He worked at Baker’s for 19 years until the business was closed. He then gained employment as a pharmacist at the Kamsack Hospital, where he worked for another 19 years. In 1994 Albert retired and they moved back to Yorkton.
He was so happy to once again be a member of the Deer Park Golf Course where he enjoyed golfing. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed singing in the parish choir. In 2009, Albert suffered a stroke and so they moved to Fisher Court Senior Residence. He enjoyed living at the Court for 12 happy years making many new friends, taking part in the activities, as well as helping others.
Albert is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 51 years (Marty), his sister Mary and brother Bill (Vivian).
He was predeceased by his brothers Matt, John and Andrew and sisters Sophie and Ollie.
