Jack Junek was born to Dr. Victor Junek and Corinne Junek (nee Roberts) on April 18, 1959, at the Yorkton City Hospital. Jack was raised in Yorkton with his older sister Leslie, older brother Reid, and younger brother Brock. While growing up, Jack enjoyed spending the summer months with his family at their cabin at Round Lake.

Jack graduated from the Yorkton Regional High School in 1977, where he played football for the Raiders. He performed in musicals, as well as being the valedictorian for his graduating class.

He continued his education both at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, receiving two degrees and a master’s before attending the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan. During these summers he would return to Yorkton to work as an orderly at the hospital. During one of these summers, he met his spouse, Nadine Surjik, and they were married in 1985.

Jack graduated in 1991, and took over Dr. Large’s practice, where he worked until his sudden passing. Over Jack and Nadine’s marriage of 38 years, their family grew to consist of 11 Rottweilers and over 25 rescued cats. Jack was one of the gentle giants.

Jack is predeceased by his dad, Dr. Victor Junek; mom, Corinne Junek; and sister, Leslie Junek.

Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his spouse, Nadine Surjik; brothers Reid (Joanne) and Brock (Priya); niece Lara; and nephews Vicaas and Vinay.

He also leaves his in-laws Victor and Evelyn Surjik, Del (Johnna), Lyndon (Will), Brad (Tara), J’neene (Colin); nieces Hannah, Shennae, and Sara Lynn; nephews Jakob and Sascha; as well as his many friends and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, donations on Jack’s behalf may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the local SPCA and animal rescues.
