Mary Helen Sylvia Klus nee (Tymura) was born Sept 26, 1933 in Lemberg, Sask. She was the youngest of 5. She attended school in Lemberg and was taught by nuns, which instilled in her a deep faith that she carried through her entire life and passed on to all her children. She married Steve Klus on April 25, 1949 in Goodeve, SK at St Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. In a span of 16 years they had 12 children. Their first child was born in 1953 and the last child was born in 1969.They raised their family on a farm west of Goodeve, SK. They farmed cattle, grain, poultry, pigs and other animals. They created a home and a functioning farm that sustained the family for many years.
Mary was an avid gardener; Not only did she grow a bountiful garden to provide food throughout the year, she also took pride in her beautiful flowers. She could make a simple meal into a feast, feeding all of us and anyone who stopped by.
The farm was a place where she made everyone welcome and there was always plenty to do. We were raised to enjoy the outdoors and the freedom that the farm had to offer. It was a gathering spot for everyone to come home to until she sold it in 2007. Due to poor health she moved to Melville in 2006 where she remained in her own place until she finally resided at St. Paul's Nursing Home in August of 2020.
Mary attended church faithfully all of her life. No matter how hard a day she had, even when she wasn't feeling well, she would kneel down with all of us to say the rosary before going to bed every night. God must have heard her prayers as he gave us good health and happiness. She was our hero and no one will ever be able to replace her.
On Dec 2, 2021 She passed away peacefully at St. Paul Lutheran Home to join our saviour Lord after a brief illness at the age of 88, surrounded with love by her family. She was a wife, grandmother, Great grandmother, Great-great Grandmother and she was selfless. Mary never asked for much, she lived a very simple life. Her family was her blessing and she loved them more than life itself.

Even though there were so many children and grandchildren, she had a way of making each and everyone of us feel special. She had plenty of love to go around to all of us. Everyone says their mom is the best, but our mother, grandmother was truly a special lady and a gift from God. She held the family together through the years. Though Mary did not have much time for hobbies, one of her favourite pass-times was listening to music, a love that she passed on to her children. Many happy hours were spent with the family singing songs. Some of our dearest memories of mom were of her milking cow, cream separating, making perogies, buns, cabbage rolls, to send home care packages for all of us, and always cookies and treats on hand for the grandchildren. She did all of this with endless love and a heart of gold. Her pass times were spent enjoyed playing Bingo, word searches, and loved her scratch tickets with countless visits from family and friends.
She will be remembered in our hearts forever and will be deeply missed. Service Details.
