Obituary of Lisa Van Koughnett

VAN KOUGHNETT – The family of Lisa Van Koughnett of Yorkton, beloved wife of Allan Van Koughnett, sadly announce her passing on May 5, 2024. She was 46 years of age. Lisa Van Koughnett was born on November 20, 1977, in Assiniboia, SK, to Gordon and Joan (Baumung-Voght) Walker. She grew up in Bredenbury and attended school there. Following high school, Lisa began working on her first Early Childhood Education degree. In 2002, Lisa met the love of her life, Allan Van Koughnett, when they both attended Dayspring Fellowship Church. Lisa and Allan were united in marriage in 2003. Together they raised their three children Sarah, Leah, and Matthew in Yorkton. Lisa continued working in Early Childhood Education and owned and operated her own home daycare. She also worked at Accent on Kids, SIGN, and later as an Education Assistant with Christ the Teacher Catholic School Division. Lisa loved her family deeply. She would give the world to them if she could. Holidays were extremely important to her. Lisa made every holiday the best for her family and had amazing traditions. She meticulously planned every holiday meal and every birthday with love and care. She loved watching movies with her children. She was a loving and devoted mother. Lisa’s love for life and people carried over into her friendships. She was always available for coffee, dinners, and outings with her friends. She welcomed new people with open arms. Lisa loved deeply. Lisa’s faith in God was very important to her. Lisa desired to share her faith with everyone. She shared any moment she got and wasn’t ashamed of the gospel and what Jesus did for her on the cross. She believed in a loving God who forgives and heals. Lisa is predeceased by her mom, Joan Baumung-Voght and her grandmother, Alvina Baumung. Lisa is survived by her husband Allan; children Sarah, Leah, and Matthew; father Gordon Walker; siblings Tracy Walker, Debra Walker, Kimberly Ritco (Darcy), Wayne Walker (Kayla), and Kelly Walker; many nieces and nephews; as well as all of her many friends. A visitation was held on Sunday and the Funeral Service was held on Monday, May 20, 2024, both from Prairie Harvest Christian Life Centre with Pastor Desmond Klingspon officiating. Michelle Sheppard, Clint Sheppard, Clyde Mariano, Alexa Mariano, and Trent Davenport led the congregation in the hymns ‘Blessed Assurance’ and ‘Firm Foundation’. Leah Van Koughnett delivered the eulogy. Tracy Walker, Debbie Walker, Kim Ritco, and Allan Van Koughnett delivered tributes. Peter Thrun delivered a special message. Special musical selection ‘Good to Me’ was performed by Craig & Kim Patzer and Allan Van Koughnett. Special musical selection ‘Love Like This’ was performed by Justin Hay, Nathan Hay, and Allan Van Koughnett. Kevin Van Koughnett, Michael Sarafincian, Clint Sheppard, Wayne Walker, Darcy Ritco, and Mel Currah served as casket bearers. A family interment took place in Prairieview Columbarium, Yorkton Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in memory of Lisa Van Koughnett may be made towards an education fund for her children as gifts of remembrance.
