Obituary of Rosallie Woloschuk
Rosallie Woloschuk (née Novakowski)
1938 – 2024
It is with both sorrow and a sense of peace that we share that Rosallie Woloschuk passed away peacefully at home in Melville, Saskatchewan, on June 8th, 2024, the feast day of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Rosallie Woloschuk was born at home on May 24th, 1938, in the R.M. of Cana near Brewer, the second of four children of Andrew and Magdalene (née Burant) Novakowski. She grew up on the farm and loved the outdoors, school and learning. She married Cornelius Woloschuk on October 16th, 1954. Together, they raised 11 children and lived a busy and active life.
Rosallie had a deep faith and was very involved in the life of the Church, first at Most Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church near the farm, and then at St. Henry’s Parish in Melville. Over many years, she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and Rosary Sodality. She was a sponsor for the RCIA program, brought the Eucharist to shut-ins, and felt a deep fulfilment in her many activities as a lay minister. Her service to the Church knew no bounds. She also volunteered with the Health Region and the Melville Thrift Shop.
Together with her faith, most important to Rosallie was her family, including her children, 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Together, Rosallie and Cornelius brought up their children in the faith and taught them the importance of education and service. Rosallie delighted in extended family gatherings in her home and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for the delicious bread and buns she baked, and her perogies, cabbage rolls and cucumber salad were legendary.
Rosallie was predeceased by her husband Cornelius Woloschuk, her parents Andrew and Magdalene, her daughters Yvonne and Ricarda, her brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Anne Novakowski, and brothers-in-law Ronald Stein, Robert Jones, and Joseph Sikora. She leaves to mourn her passing: her children Gerard (Dianne) Woloschuk, Debora (Robert) Wotherspoon, Carleen (Norbert) Gaudet, Charmaine (Mike) Ross, Rosanne Woloschuk, Constance Woloschuk, Bradley Woloschuk, Brenda Woloschuk, and Dion Woloschuk, son-in-law Philip Schmidt, and sisters Margaret Sikora and Patricia Stein-Jones, along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Rosallie’s family is grateful for her long life and thank the many family and friends who shared in her journey. We wish to express our gratitude to the health care providers involved in our mother’s care.
