Donald Blazeiko

Obituary of Donald Gale Blazeiko

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle and great uncle, Donald Blazeiko late evening of June 9, 2024 at his apartment.

Donald was born on February 5, 1959 at Regina. He was chosen by loving parents, Pete and Julia Blazeiko. A beautiful little boy, a brother for Adeline and Tony who loved him immediately.

He attended Willowbrook School from grade 1 to 7. He was especially fond of Mrs. Hrebenik, a wonderful teacher for grade 1 and 2 who helped him immensely. He took his grade 8 at Yorkdale, where kids bullied him so much that made him want to quit school. His mom did not receive any help from the school regarding this matter and so she kept her promise that Donald could quit.

Don helped his father on the farm with all the farming equipment and also helped his mother with various duties. His mother strived to teach him everything he needed to know in order to eventually be on his own.  He worked for a couple of farmers in the area before getting lucky by obtaining a job at SPCA. This job suited him as he loved animals. Soon he also began employment with Sarcan, also a job he was very fond of. After a few years he worked restricted hours due to health issues and after 17 years he retired. He maintained a close relationship and would visit and attend functions that he was invited to. At the same time, he joined the Drop Inn Centre, a wonderful place to occupy his time.

He enjoyed going to car races, not missing very many. He was happy to attend the latest one, two weeks ago in memory of Rick Markham.

Donald was predeceased by his Dad 2006, his mom 2008, sister-in-law Jill 2002, nephew Barry 1968 and great nephew Bryton 1997.

Donald leaves to mourn his passing, his sister Adeline (Larry) Markham, brother Tony Blazeiko; nephews Doug (Karen) Markham, Warren (Rosie) Blazeiko and Terry (Annie) Blazeiko; nieces Lori (Ron Soloway) Markham, Brenda Hackman, Wendy (Craig) McKay; great nephews Braden and Riley (Mandee) Hackman, Rowan and Kale Blazeiko, Ethan McKay, Liam and Hayden Soloway; and great niece Megan Blazeiko.

We love you Don and will never forget you. Rest in peace in your mother’s arms.
