Rusty Riess

Obituary of Rusty Riess

The family of Rusty Riess, beloved husband of Tracy Riess, sadly announce his passing on June 14, 2024. He was 51 years of age.

Rusty Lee Riess was born in Flin-Flon, Manitoba on March 4, 1973 to parents Virgil and Judy Riess, he was the first of four children. Rusty started his education in Wishart, Saskatchewan. He then attended school in Foam Lake until grade two. The family moved to Wynyard where Rusty would attend school until grade 10.

Rusty and Tracy got married on August 5, 1995 and started their new lives. Quickly, their family grew. Logan Ryely was born on December 22, 1996. The little family continued to grow, on June 7, 1999, Rusty’s baby girl was born – Randi Morgan.

Rusty enjoyed spending his time tinkering with his Fords, horse rides, hunting, sledding or quadding, fishing and tubing at the lake with his friends and family.

Rusty worked on the rigs, earning his way up from roughneck to consultant. His career advancements had him travelling across the globe, but his heart and soul were always right at home with Tracy and his kids. The family continued this lifestyle for many years until Rusty retired from the rigs to chase his dream of a family-owned business. RTLR started small with just Rusty and a backhoe. In true Rusty style, he worked day and night to build his dream.

In 2019, Rusty’s first grandbaby was born – Houston, to Randi and Austin, where Rusty officially took on the title of “Pop-Pop”. Rusty found a new calling – being the best pop- pop ever. Houston and Pop-pop became the best of buds, doing everything together – especially getting ice cream. To add to Rusty’s title of pop-pop, in 2023 Ryker was born to Logan and Monica.  Shortly after Randi and Austins second child Dalli was born giving pop-pop his first granddaughter.

Rusty was pre-deceased by his and Tracy’s loving grandparents, his cherished uncle Fred, beloved younger brother Rocky and dear friends.

He leaves behind to mourn his passing; wife Tracy, children Logan (Monica) Randi (Austin) Grandchildren Houston, Ryker and Dalli. Parents Virgil and Judy. Siblings Tammy (Trent) Micheal (Tammy) Nephews, Brendan, Taylor (Alyssa), Dalton, Tanner (Billy), and Tristin. Niece Tyrene and Great Niece Harley.
