Obituary of Adriaan Jenken
Adriaan Scott Jenken
August 25, 2002 - July 25, 2024
Adriaan Scott Jenken, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 25, 2024, at the St. Anthony’s Hospital in Esterhazy, SK with his mother by his side. Born on August 25, 2002, in Kitchener, Ontario, Adriaan was the firstborn son to Valerie White and Tim Jenken.
Adriaan's early years were spent in Russell, Manitoba, where he began his schooling before the family moved to Langenburg, Saskatchewan. From grade three onward, Adriaan grew up and completed his education in Langenburg, graduating from LCS in 2020, the year of COVID-19.
Adriaan shared a close bond with his family. He was a devoted brother to his full-blood sister, Mariah Jenken, who was also one of his best friends. His family expanded when his father, Tim, remarried, giving him a half-brother and sister, Lexus and Bentley. Later, his mother, Valerie, brought two more brothers, Charlie and Jake, into his life. Adriaan cherished his close-knit family, growing up alongside his aunt, Sara White and her children, Dominic and Karma. Dominic and Adriaan remained lifelong friends.
He was loved dearly by his grandparents, Donna and Alan Hartell, who would do anything for him and his grandparents, Jane & Wayne Jenken, who made it possible for them to spend summers together.
Adriaan had a passion for basketball, drama, and music. His dream was to become a voice actor and to create music. Over the years, he recorded some of his work on SoundCloud, he called himself "Lil Misty."
In December 2022, Adriaan was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer. He faced this battle with courage, positivity, and gratitude, never once complaining of pain. Despite his bravery, Adriaan's fight ended as he succumbed to the illness for which there is currently no cure.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the doctors and nurses in Regina and Esterhazy for their dedication and care. They also wish to thank everyone for their generous donations, prayers, and good wishes, which allowed Valerie to spend as much valuable time with Adriaan as possible before his passing.
Adriaan's spirit and memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations in memory of Adriaan Jenken may be made to Esterhazy Hospital for Palliative Care as gifts of remembrance.
