Obituary of Ila Stachowich

The family of Ila Stachowich of Melville, beloved wife of Ed Stachowich, sadly announces her passing on October 17, 2024.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.

The interment will follow in St. Henry's Parish Cemtery.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.

Ila was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on May 6th, 1955 to James Patrick Morley and Maria Stuckel. She was the youngest of five children, with four older brothers.

Ila received her education at St. Henry’s school in Melville. After completing grade 10, Ila began working as a waitress and taking an office course. During this time, she met Edward Stachowich and they married a short six months later on August 25th, 1973.  Ila and Ed were blessed with five children between the years of 1974 to 1982. Ila was a devoted wife, and wonderful Mother, who always put her family first.

Ila was very talented, filled with creativity and had an amazing eye for detail. She always had a passion for learning, and she completed her GED in 1992 and took a business course a short time later.  As their children grew, Ed and Ila began their craft business. Ed would do the woodwork, and Ila did the painting, sewing and even made her own soap. They were very successful for many years.

Besides painting and crafting, Ila had many hobbies including cooking, baking, gardening, camping and cross-country skiing. She loved to travel, but also worked hard to make her backyard a little piece of heaven, filled with solar lights, flowers and treasures. Many evenings were spent in the backyard enjoying fires, playing games and spending time with family.

During her years, Ila had various health issues, and after a long courageous battle with Cancer, she passed away on October 17th, 2024.

Ila’s door was always open to her family. She was selfless, and never wanted to burden people with her own problems, but she was always there to listen to others and offer guidance. She lovingly encouraged her children to find their own happiness and to always treat people the way they would want to be treated. She had a passion for life and will always be remembered as an animal lover. She cherished her two dogs, Buddy & Chewy and she enjoyed all time spent with pets.

Ila was predeceased by her parents, James & Maria Morley; her brothers, Wayne, Bruce (Cheryl) and Dana and her In-Laws, Bill and Carol Stachowich of Melville.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband, Edward of 51 years; her children: Trina of Melville, James (Jen) of Melville, Crystal (Terry Sagan) of Melville, Kimberley (Mark Hilton) of Yorkton and Darren of Yorkton; and her grandchildren: Elisabeth and Jack Hilton, Jared and Jade Pawelko.  She is also survived by one brother, Vance (Pam) Morley of Edmonton, her Sister-In-Law, Denise Morley of Saskatoon and many nieces and nephews.
