It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian S. Adamiak, a beloved brother, nephew, uncle, friend and teammate, who left us far too soon. Brian was a larger-than-life figure, a true legend in the slo-pitch community and a person who enjoyed any social interactions with his family and friends.
Brian was born the eighth of nine children to Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Novakowski) Adamiak on October 12, 1969. He attended Calder School from grades 1 to 9 and graduated from Yorkton Regional High School in 1987 before moving to Saskatoon. He moved to Saskatoon and involved himself in the slo-pitch scene as a player and umpire. Brian was employed for many years at Superior Millwork. Employment took him to Banff and he returned to Yorkton in December of 2023.
Always so full of joy, energy, and positivity in everything he did, Brian had an infectious smile that could light up any room. He was the life of the party, whether at family events, karaoke, Halloween celebrations, kaiser tournaments, or just sitting around the fire. His deep commitment to making everyone feel welcome and included made him a beloved figure among friends and family alike. Brian had a remarkable gift for connecting with people, making friends wherever he went, and leaving a lasting impression on all he interacted with. He was truly the nicest, most genuine person you could ever meet.
As a dedicated player, coach and umpire, Brian poured his heart into the ball community, organizing countless teams and trips and inspiring others through his unwavering support. He was a teammate and mentor to many, always ready with a kind word of encouragement or a thoughtful text that uplifted those around him. His positive outlook on life and ability to see the good in every situation made him a cherished presence in our lives.
In addition to his passion for ball, Brian was a devoted Winnipeg Jets fan and a proud supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. His love for sports was matched only by his commitment to his family and friends. He loved nothing more than spending time with his nieces and nephews, often playing sports with them at family events or embarking on spontaneous road trips to create lasting memories. He would drive all night to attend an event and then drive all night to get back to work, a true testament to his dedication and love for those he cared about.
Brian was predeceased by his parents, Joseph (1999) and Elizabeth (2010), his brother Kelly (1981), nephew Jamie Kelbaugh (1983), and brother-in-law Cliff Yates (2009). He leaves to mourn his siblings Veronica (Glen) Erhardt, Patricia Yates, Linda (Jim) Kelbaugh, Sheldon, Christopher, Bonnie (Lawrence Hozempa), and Michael (Gail Horobec), as well as numerous nieces and nephews: Sherry (Shaun), Nadia and Lucya, Melissa (Tom), Jackson, Chace and Hayley; Ash (Meghan) Brielle and Briar; Lindsay (Rick) Avery and Quinn; Kristen (Bryan) Brandon and Kayden; Bradley; Sara (Keith); Holly, Tristen and Emily; Lisa and Brooke; Zenon.
He took great pleasure in spotting numerical patterns on his vehicle's odometer. Whenever he noticed a unique sequence, he would eagerly pull over to the side of the road to giggle, snap a photo, and share the moment with everyone on social media.
At the start of October, he was honored at work with the Employee/Rock Star Award for the month. He was commeneded for showcasing exceptional teamwork, accountability, and dependability.
He shared a special bond, with his niece Melissa and her husband Tom, finding immense joy in bringing them together as a couple. He cherished the countless hours spent with their family, enjoying time with Jackson, Chace, and his beloved Hayleybear.
He was also very close with his sister Pat. They embarked on countless road trips to visit family and friends, creating lasting memories along the way. She will profoundly miss their cherished weekly breakfasts together.
Gone too soon, Big B, you will be deeply missed. Your sweet texts and unwavering support will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you for all the beautiful memories and for giving the biggest hugs. Until we meet again, know that you are loved beyond measure.
In honour of Brian's memory, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness, warmth, and passion for life. Rest in peace Brian. You will forever be an irreplaceable part of our lives.
