Marie Larson of Yorkton, passed away on November 28, 2024, with her family by her side. She was 90 years of age.
Marie (Mom) was predeceased by her mother (Lydia), her father (Joe), mother-in-law (Mary), father-in-law (Oscar), son in law (Dale Kuhling), step granddaughter (Rhonda Kuhling Tyacke). Marie (Mom) is survived by her husband Everett, four children: Sherry Kuhling, Darwin (Brenda) Larson, Jarvis Larson (partner – Dawn Mcbride), and Garth (Darlene) Larson. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Marie (Mom) was born to the late Joe and Lydia Bily on December 2, 1933 in Langenburg, SK. She attended Dovedale School south of Churchbridge till grade 8. She helped her parents who farmed grain and the raising of poultry and many animals. She even helped her father check the trap lines to see if any muskrats were caught.
Marie (Mom) worked on the farm helping her husband, Everett. During her lifetime she had jobs working at Canada Post as a mail clerk and a cook at restaurants and cooking for seniors at Anderson Lodge before going onto retirement thereafter. Marie (Mom) was married to Everett Larson in 1954. They lived in Churchbridge and Yorkton throughout the years.
Marie (Mom) had a unique personality. She could be humorous with many of her witty jokes and always had a listening ear should one needed some motherly advice. She loved the outdoors and spending time in the garden and flowerbed. She loved to bake and cook in the kitchen. Everyone always liked her home cooked meals and always had extra in case someone “dropped in” at mealtime. Knitting was another favourite and always had an extra pair of slippers to keep family and visitors’ feet warm during the Saskatchewan winters.
Marie (Mom) had many enjoyable trips with dad everywhere they went in Hawaii, Mexico, Yuma, Las Vegas, Alaska, and the Maritimes. Some of Marie’s (Mom’s) past times were visiting on the phone, watching her favourite tv shows and watching her grandchildren and great- grandchildren playing sports.
Our family would like to thank St. Paul Lutheran Home of Melville and the Yorkton and District Nursing Home - Country Meadow for the care and kindness towards Marie (Mom) over the past several years. As well, the family would like to recognize the following honourary pallbearers for everything they provided to Marie (Mom). They include Nels and Noreen Larson, Gloria and Wes Bessel, Sandra and Laurie Labelle, Lori-Anne and Warren Bily, the late Gus and Mary Stamatinos, and Dr. Proctor Girard.
I know each and everyone here today will have something that you will always remember Marie, Mom, Grandma, and Great-grandma with – something special that will keep in your thoughts and hearts forever. Rest in peace until we see each other again. Amen!!!
