Florence Lorraine Bazansky passed away at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home on November 28th, at the age of 88. Florence was born on the family homestead near Pike Lake in the Stenen, Sask district, to Paul and Annie (Surcon) Gogal on January 13, 1936. Florence married Harry Bazansky on October 13th, 1955. They resided on the Bazansky family farm north of Stenen, Sask. Together they raised their son Brian. They had a mixed farming operation which included grain, cattle, chickens, and a few pigs. Florence loved her garden, which was always weed free. She enjoyed canning, and pickling, which always stocked the pantry shelves. Florence also was busy milking cows and selling her milk and cream. She raised chickens to sell to family and friends. People would joke that you better slow down driving past Bazansky’s , because if you hit one of Florence’s chickens, you would roll your car! Off the farm Florence was involved with the Stenen seniors centre, as well as was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church north of Stenen. Florence always volunteered her time to pinch perogies, and make pies for the community suppers. Florence enjoyed watching curling, the Blue Jays and playing Bingo. Florence also loved attending her grandchildren’s hockey, lacrosse, figure skating and Ukrainian dancing. Florence was a wonderful cook, and always hosted Ukrainian Christmas suppers. Her table was full of many wonderful Ukrainian dishes. She was a great roll model for Donna and the grandkids, who all followed her love of cooking.
Florence was pre-deceased by her husband Harry, son Brian, and grandson Kyle, her parents Paul and Annie Gogal; her step father George Bazansky; her siblings: Norman (Simone), Tommy (Erma), Harold (Annette), Eugene (Doreen), Evelyn (John) Anaka, (Bob Tanton).
She leaves to celebrate her life, and mourn her passing her daughter-in-law Donna Britton (Dale); her grandson Tyler (Nicole) Bazansky, her granddaughter Brittany (Kevin) Stringfellow, and her grand daughter-in-law Danielle, and her five precious great grand children: Nolan and Nash Bazansky, and Ellie, Theo, and Tucker Stringfellow; her sister Geraldine (Ted) Bellows, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Rest in Peace Baba
