Randy (Randolph) Richard Wojtowicz

April 6, 1952 – December 24, 2024

Randy Richard Wojtowicz, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, and esteemed professor of philosophy, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve in Melville, Saskatchewan after battling cancer. He was 72 years old.

Born on April 6, 1952, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Randy was known for his sharp intellect and big heart. He dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the sharing of wisdom, inspiring students throughout his distinguished career as a professor of philosophy. His career brought him to many places around Alberta, British Columbia and even down to Nebraska, ultimately retiring from Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Stack; his daughter, Andrea; his son, Chris; and his step-sons, Mac and Jon. He cherished every moment spent with them. Randy came to Melville with his wife in December 2020, to be closer to her family.

A man of many passions, Randy found joy in cooking – especially barbequing fish, using briquettes (no propane!). He was an avid reader immersing himself in the worlds of science fiction and discovering the joy of ‘cozy mysteries’ late in life. Randy enjoyed playing games and cards, and especially loved playing chess. His logical mind was always balanced by his big heart, making him a cherished friend and mentor to many.

The family wishes to thank St Peter’s Hospital in Melville for their care and compassion to Randy.

Randy's legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the wisdom he imparted. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Details about a service will be announced at a later date.
