It is with tremendous sorrow that the family of Richard Paul Pelletier announce his passing on October 14th, 2021 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 68 years of age. We gather not just to mourn but to celebrate his life. Richard Pelletier was born on April 6th, 1953 to Joseph and Isabelle (nee Flamont) Pelletier. Richard was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and raised in the Crescent Lake area where he attended school at a young age. He then attended both Esterhazy and Stockholm schools, completing his upgrading in Esterhazy with several of his siblings. Richard known as "Chick", a nickname given to him by his brother Mervin, was a jack of all trades working in various positions. Upon completing his upgrading Richard completed shoe repair and carpentry courses, the latter of which he utilized in various positions as a labourer. Richard met and married the love of his life, Gloria Marie Wasacase. They were united in marriage in Esterhazy on December 4th, 1976. They were blessed with four children, Pamela, Richard "Guy", Sabrina, and Malcolm. Together they raised their children in Gerald, Saskatchewan with a brief stint in Coquitlam, BC. Richard or "Big Gampy" and "Pop-Pop", as his great-grandchildren called him had a deep love of family. He cherished his relationships with his great-grandchildren, grandchildren, children, nieces and nephews, siblings and all other family. Richard had many hobbies, including croquet, a love of poker and card games, and hunting with his little brother Garry. Over the years Garry and Richard spent many hours hunting together in the valley. Richard loved the outdoors and was not known to ever turn down a good game of croquet. Like many of his siblings, Richard had a very infectious laugh and was quick-witted, often at the expense of others and especially with in-laws. Richard lived a simple life, putting his family before worldly possessions. His quiet strength and resiliency is to be admired, evident through his own perseverance through tragedy within his family. A strength that is a defining trait that shines through his remaining children, Malcolm and Pamela. Richard was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Isabelle Pelletier; his wife Gloria Pelletier; his son Richard Pelletier; his daughter Sabrina Wasacase; brothers Gilbert Pelletier, James Pelletier, Roy Pelletier, Henry Pelletier and Victor Pelletier; sisters Mary Brazeau, Evelyn Pelletier, Velma Shingoose and Kathleen Pelletier; brothers-in-law Lester Shingoose, Francis "Chi-Boy" Pelletier, and Marcel Roussin; sisters-in-law Mabel Peepeetch and Mavis Kakakaway; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his grandchildren Donovan, J.R., Tommy, Kirsten, Braidy, Darnell, Keisha, Cole, Shay-Lynn, Makayla, Tessa, Jaycee, and Tiahanna, his great-grandchildren Urijah, Kaydence, Tommy Jr, Bexley, Wren, and Traeton; daughter Pamela Wasacase of Yorkton, son Malcolm Pelletier (Joyce) of Yorkton, brothers Mervin (Florence) Pelletier of Yorkton, Garry Pelletier of Yorkton, sisters Margaret (Leo) Martin of Springside, Bertha Roussin (Gerald) of Yorkton, Sylvia (Nelson) Brazeau of Yorkton, as well as many other family and friends, too numerous to mention.
