Obituary of Elizabeth Rose Beres

Elizabeth Beres (nee Bodie) was born on September 16, 1920 in the Saxon Hill District to Steve and Anna Bodie (nee Stadler). She passed away late Friday evening September 24, 2021 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home where she resided only since the summer of 2019. Elizabeth was the third oldest of a family of nine children. She attended Look Out School, and after finishing school there she worked as a domestic helper in Yorkton and also helped out on the family farm. Elizabeth was united in marriage to George Beres on June 8, 1942 at Saxon Hill Roman Catholic Church. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. They farmed twelve miles North of Melville where they raised their three children: Doreen, Elaine, and Meryle. Elizabeth was a hard working farm wife, milking cows, raising poultry, feeding threshing crews, gardening, and attending to all the flowers and yard work. She was an amazing cook and especially took pride in preparing her Hungarian dishes. In the Spring of 1977 Elizabeth and George retired to a home on Sixth Avenue in Yorkton where they met many wonderful neighbours. They continued to attend the Willowbrook Senior Centre gatherings. Elizabeth continued her love of gardening, canning, attending to her flowers and apple tree (where no apple was to be left unprocessed). In the Fall of 2014 Elizabeth moved to her new home at the Queen Elizabeth Court where she lived independently until 2019. At that time she became hospitalized and then moved to the Yorkton & District Nursing Home. Elizabeth was a faithful member of St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the CWL. Her Rosary was never far from her hands. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband George in 2011, daughter Doreen in 2006, and her brothers and their spouses Mike (Mary), Joe (Heddy), Frank (Victoria), Steve (Meriel), and sisters Mary in infancy, Margaret Fleming, and Shirley Cox (and her husband Swannie). Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory daughter Elaine, son Meryle and his wife Marilyn, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Kim Carlton (John) of Oyster Bay, B.C. and her daughters Jessica (Mat) and Lexi; Trent (Colleen) Beres and their daughters Trinitie and Cassidy; Garett (Breanne) Beres and their children Grady and Baylee; Jenelle (Jeremy) Ottenbreit and their children Torren, Preston, and Daxon; her brother Alex Bodie of Kamloops, B.C., brother-in-law Bud Fleming of London, Ontario, and Don Grant of Langley, B.C. (Doreen's partner), as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Elizabeth will be remembered for her generous and kind nature and beautiful soul. Service Details.
