I have many memories of visiting Aunty Joyce and Uncle Elmer when I was a child. Their house was on our way to church in Saltcoats, so we would often stop in on the way home for a visit. I always enjoyed the chance to play with Ivy Lou and Connie, and Aunt Joyce's good cooking. Once I moved away from Yorkton I didn't see her as often, but visited whenever I came to see Mom. Aunt Joyce was always so willing to help with whatever was needed. Two times stand out in my memory. When my Dad was dying of cancer, but wanted to be at home, not in hospital, and Mom couldn't cope on her own, Aunt Joyce came and stayed to help look after Dad. I so much appreciated that, as I lived so far away and had two young children, so couldn't be there as much as I wanted to be. Then when my Mom had her heart attack and was in hospital, I stayed with Aunt Joyce for the last several days. She was such a support to me when Mom passed away. I will miss her. Connie and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
