Obituary of Shirley Aaro
The family of Shirley Aaro of Saskatoon, beloved wife of the late Hubert Aaro and the late Jim Balcombe, sadly announce her passing at the Canora Gateway Lodge on May 16, 2021 at the age of 91 years.
The Funeral Service will take place at a later date with the interment to be held in the Elbow Cemetery.
Memorial donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the Grace-Westminster United Church, Saskatoon or to the Elbow Cemetery as gifts of remembrance.
Shirley Louise Aaro passed away at the Canora Gateway Lodge on May 16, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Shirley was born on the farm near Loreburn, SK. on January 5, 1930. She was one of six children born to John and Evelyn (Fiske) Southam.
On July 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Hubert Aaro in the Elbow United Church, Elbow, SK. In 1968 Hubert and Shirley moved to Waldron, SK. where they owned and operated the hotel there. They relocated to Saskatoon in 1976. There Shirley worked at Lorne Ave. Drugs. She was an active member of Grace Westminster United Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Hubert and Shirley raised four children, Arlen, Sharon, Heather and Mona and were blessed with seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In 2005 Shirley met Jim Balcombe. They enjoyed each other's company until Jim's passing in 2017.
Shirley is predeceased by her husband's Hubert Aaro (1989) and James Balcombe (2017), her children Arlen Aaro (1999) and Sharon Aaro (2016), brothers Jack Southam, Alvin Southam and Don Southam and sister Joy Norrish. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are; her daughters Heather (Howard) Bodnarik and Mona (Phil) Hinz, her grandchildren Jason (Jill) Weber, Jeff Weber, Stacey (Cory) Exner, Scott (Carla) Aaro, Devon (Christina) Stout, Cristi (Jeff) Frank and Shauna (Adrian) LaFontaine, her great grandchildren Mason Stout, Taron Stout, Jayda Stout, Kaiya Weber, Kelsey Exner, Grady Exner, Dyllin Aaro, Jack Aaro and Alaia Alcelay, her sister Joan Holmlund, sisters in law Carole Southam and Alice Southam, daughter in law Dawn Aaro, as well as special extended family Cheryl, Mert, Lori, Ward, Colton and Jaxon.
