Obituary of Rita Pelletier

The family of Rita Pelletier (Pritchard) sadly announce her passing on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the age of 70 years. The Wake will be held on Wednesday, February 24th beginning at 9:00am from the Yorkton Friendship Centre. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 25th at 11:00am from the Yorkton Friendship Centre with Pastor Rick Flamont officiating. The interment will follow in the Yorkton City Cemetery. Rita Pelletier was born on August 24th, 1950 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and passed away on February 22nd, 2021 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her children, Carmen Shingoose (Ernest), Isadore Kip Shingoose, Marcella Lummerding (Michael) and Marty Pritchard (Stephanie); by her grandchildren Delaney, Carlee, Riley, Garrett, Chasity (Turner), Travis, Shay-Lynn, Hope, Faith, Hayden, Lee, Kendra, Hailey, Destiny, Payton; Great-grandchildren Dayton, Alivia, and Violet; God-children Fanta Flamont, Debbie Pelletier and Holly Pelletier-Petersen. She will also be dearly missed by her siblings Dwayne Pelletier (Valerie), Myles Pelletier (Debbie), Lyle Pelletier (Darlene), Brenda Chartrand (nee Pelletier), Karen Lyle (Rod), Barry Pelletier (Jessica), Tanya Hydamacka, Amanda Hydamacka; special friends Leah Link and Lorraine Vandale. Rita was Pre-deceased by her father Frank Pelletier, her mother Elizabeth Hydamacka (nee Flamont) and her stepfather Andrew Hydamacka. She was also pre-deceased by her step-son Corey Pritchard; her siblings Darlene Strongquill (nee Severight), Edwin Pelletier, Marilyn Chartrand (nee Pelletier), Anthony Pelletier; by her husband Isadore (Buck) Shingoose, partner Marcel Nepinak; nieces Aimee Pelletier, Crystal Langan; nephews Clinton Pelletier, Darwin Whitehawk, Preston Lerat; numerous aunts and uncles. Rita was a loving and hardworking woman. Her education began at Allary School from 1955-1963, Composite Jr. High School 1964-1965 at which time she also completed a secretarial course alongside her regular studies. In 1967 Rita married Isadore "Buck" Shingoose and they had two children together. She then had her two youngest children with her partner at that time Marcel Nepinak whom she met in 1972. It was in the early 70's that Rita was instrumental in the development of the Metis Society and Friendship Center in her hometown of Yorkton, Sask. Throughout her life Rita had devoted much of her career to the Metis people and its organizations. She received a Business Admin diploma in 1984, and a Human Justice Diploma in 1992 both from the Gabriel Dumont Institute. Following her Human Justice Studies, Rita was employed at Pinegrove Correctional Center until her retirement in March of 2011. In the subsequent years following her retirement Rita enjoyed going to church, playing wahoo, visiting her family/friends as well as calling and playing bingo with her friends at the Sherman Towers where she lived out her final days. It should be noted that Rita was a born-again Christian and was happiest while in church praising the Lord. Service Details.
