To the Bilan family Our deepest sympathy on the sudden death of your beautiful & beloved mother. Elsie was a wonderful human being.. always considerate of everyone she knew. We met your parents in the '70's when we first moved to Yorkton. We got together for Sask Power parties & for fun curling on the weekends. When we came back to Yorkton in 2007 we reconnected & enjoyed catching up on lost time. May your Mom rest in peace & may all of you find comfort in knowing your parents left you many memories to cherish. We listened to & enjoyed the Live Stream of the funeral. Darcie, you did an beautiful job of the obit.. enjoyed your amusing stories of your time spent with them. You saved the best to the last.. your Dream Story was very vivid & well written !! Blessings, Garry & Claudia

This week, I have been thinking of all of the special memories I hold of you Auntie Elsie. I am forever grateful to have known you and to have had the privilege of calling you my Auntie. Auntie Elsie you were a strong woman, you were always very grounded and practical, you had a beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor, you were a Boss Lady - always in charge, the big sister to my Mom and the rest of the Zemlak crew, you were cool cause you let us write on your walls of your new home, you didn't take things too seriously, you were always watching over everyone, witty and quick to crack a joke. You were proud to be Ukrainian, and you always celebrated and lived as a proud Ukrainian Mama and Baba, to your beautiful children, grandchildren and family. You lived a blessed life, and touched the hearts of many. We will miss you dearly, but we know you and Uncle James are together again, hand in hand, resting in eternal peace and in eternal love. To the Bilan Family: May fond memories of your Mom/Baba bring you comfort during this hard time in your life. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. Thinking of you and with you in spirit over this next while. Love Marina and Oz xo

My condolences to the family, treasure the wonderful family memories you have of you amazing mom. I will always remember your mom willing to help with any project. And coming out of the kitchen at the Auditorium with an apron on and her sleeves rolled up. My mom and dad, Carl and Levina Wintoyk, were always surrounded with laughter when gathered with the gang, your parents, the Stanicki"s. What fun they had, but also what work they did in the community. They are now all gathered and I am certain having a rousting card game. Vichnaya Pamyat - Memory Eternal

Please accept our condolences on the passing of your Mother. What I remember most is the hours we (Elsie, Jim, Veronica and Al) spent fishing in the lakes around Yorkton, camping when our families and children were much younger and working the countless volunteer hours at the church hall. It was an honor to have known such a great person. May your memories of your Mom provide you with comfort during this difficult time. Our deepest sympathies from the Drul family.

Deepest sympathies and all our love to you all. So thankful to have know your Sister, Mom, Auntie, Grandmother! Elsie and Jim--I always addressed them as Mr. & Mrs. Bilan out of respect--were dear warm kind souls. Grateful for all of the hospitality, love and guidance they provided to a group of Kevin's friends growing up in Yorkton. Grieving for the loss. Hopeful for the redemption of the faith. Sincere condolences from the Holowatuk family.

As far back as we remember, Auntie Elsie was always in our family's life. We remember: her love of fishing when they came to visit at the cabin, her hugs and hospitality at family get togethers, Sunday school, church functions, and her take charge attitude when working at the auditorium. As kids, we remember many nights of piling into the car and driving over to the Bilan house for their card games. Auntie Elsie would have the Tupperware out and full of snacks and our parents would bring out the cards. They would laugh and argue over Troika wins and losses late into the night, while we fell asleep scattered around the house. The tradition of the lively cards games continued for more than 50 years where you could hear mom and Auntie Elsie lecturing their husbands about their 'tactics'. Over the years, she was there for christenings, birthdays, holidays, weddings and funerals and she never came empty handed. All of us kids have fond memories which included Auntie Elsie being at the hall, making dough, cooking and baking for hall events and playing bingo. I will always remember her laughter when the ladies finally took a break and shared coffee and had a smoke. She was always full of energy and I wondered how she did it time after time. If we needed something and couldn't find our own mother at the hall or church, Auntie Elsie was the next in line. Her kindness and love will always be remembered. In the last few years of our parent's lives when their health was failing, she regularly came to visit them and shared not only food but her gift of time. Even after they both passed away, she was there. She will always be our Matka and our Auntie Elsie. Donna Zawislak on behalf of Sharon, Brian and Allen Stanicki and our families.
